ad blue ??

Featured Replies

thought i'd pick brains of you guys rather than reading the squillion page manual. :)  My Kodiaq tells me I have to put ad blue in. Its' the first time it's asked. It says i have 1500 miles but I don't believe it as I've been on 2 journeys and it still says that.

Anyway can I just put the cheapest stuff from the supermarket that I find? or does it have to be special skoda stuff? And how much do I need? Thanks for any help.

Cheapest is just the same stuff as anything branded. 10 litres does a good few thousand miles so don't expect the range to count down as precisely as the diesel range. Just put in what the display tells you to put in.

Any range over 1000 will not let you fill the whole 10 litres.

I've filled a couple of times and never been brave enough to run it low. I top up anywhere between 1000 and 1500. Usually takes around 9 litres. Then throw the remainder in the tank later.

As above, cheapest is best, but ensure it comes with a filling spout.

Is there any yellow warning light on dashboard? I had situation where dashboard warned me about adblue range with little yellow warning light. Dealer filled the tank. Still got the yellow warning light...finally dealer took apart adblue system under the hood and found the problem...adblue injector was oxidized...cleaned it and good for 7 months.

2019 models come with 18 litres Adblue tank capacity.

Remember when topping up the AdBlue to then have the ignition on for 30 seconds before starting the car to let the Range Register.

Doesn`t help always. I left the ignition on for a minute, nothing changed. Started to drive and after minute or two new figures about adblue range popped up.

Seems fine.  It was started then, 30 seconds and then after a couple of minutes drive popping up.

No biggy, you know you have in AdBlue.

All still part of the big VW Group cheat where sometimes it is not sipping AdBlue and reducing emissions. As they will get caught out on again.

Yes i just read this in the book too and am very confused!!.. :excl::excl: How is it possible to even switch the ignition on on a keyless start car?  The ignition remains off when you get in the car and if I press start the engine starts.

and whet the heck is a gallon? You can only buy it in litres  ..I gotta do maths as well now. This is mucho complicated

If dsg don’t put foot on brake, if manual don’t depress clutch.

When I worked at Audi there was something put in place that we couldn’t charge more than £1.50 a litre. It doesn’t cost that much at a dealer probably about £20 to have it filled

Here in Portugal, I refill my kodiaq in a adblue refill pump (in a gas station).

It costs around 0.70 euro per litre

Never paid more than 5 or 6 euro to refill

Yes, adblue is much cheaper in Europe than here in the UK. Here are a couple of fuel station prices from last week in Germany, showing prices of 0,47.9€ and 0,50.9€ per litre:

Daft question. How do you know if you have the smaller or larger tank. Dealer just advised me the tank should be 21 litres! Not ever aware it’s supposed to have been that big.

ive got 1400 miles to go, and want to work out whether to get one 10l tub or two

It will tell you how much to refill. Mine (2018)  is at 900 miles to go, and says 9.75l to fill. Just waiting for it to hit 10l

The adblue tank volume was increased from 12 litres to 18 litres in the MY2019 changes, ie as of week 31 2018 - 30th July-5th August.

You can change between gallons and litres in the settings menu.
