This engine appeared on our configurator for only short period of time and then disappeared. I wonder what that means :D

32mpg, not bad a for a 2 litre petrol 4x4 ☺

Very nice B)

With 7.9 miles on the clock, I'd have been tempted to reverse it back down to zero and start again! :notme:

Gaz

Very very nice . B)

I was happy with  7.9, since I was told it would be driven to me - about 70 miles - but the supplier sent it on a truck to minimise mileage, at no cost to me :)

Well no - not really.

They will continue to see higher priced vehicles that do offer 4x4 rather than making far less profit on the Skoda badged version.

A mistake in the buying eye of the public, for the company - very much the right thing to do.

I was talking in terms of the Skoda brand. Imagine how many 245 4x4s they would sell... id trade in right now

@Sweephand very nice, hope you are enjoying it. Race Blue is a good looking colour in a sea of monochrome cars. It sounds like the same engine as my Kodiaq 2.0 TSI 190 with the EA888 Gen 3B with GPFs fitted. Should be quite brisk when required, but refined too.

Great car the Octavia, lots of room for a mid sized car, interestingly the boot is almost the exact same area as the Kodiaq as I’ve re-used my rubber boot mat, just spinning it by 180 degrees - almost mm perfect!

Enjoy

The Skoda brand must always sit under both Audi and VW. It wasn't so long ago that the UK head of VW said that he considered every Skoda sale as a lost VW sale.

They would see a lot of 245 4x4 and that is why it was never going to happen.

well, not really, not everyone can afford an S3 at £40k but maybe a 245 4x4 at £30-£35k would work. they are not loosing any sales, if anything making more money as people will push their wallets a little further to get the 4x4.

A 245 4x4 would take chunks out of the Cupra 300 4Drive, which is available for give or take £3,000 more than a regular vRS 245 (both broadspeed prices for comparison). If people are willing to push a bit further, by the time you've stuck that in a PCP deal, the Cupra is already not much more expensive.

From the group perspective imagine Skoda as a 'gateway drug'. Their ultimate goal is to get you into the brands that make the most money, which is Audi and VW. They don't necessarily want a loyal Skoda customer, they want a loyal VW Group customer.

Skoda is there to stop you buying a Ford or a Kia or something before you can afford the VW or Audi equivalent.

They were really good value before the Brexit vote. In 2013 bought a new Roomster SE for £9600 and my sister in-law a Skoda Fabia for £8600. The fall value of the pound has put an end to that

Thanks :)  It is the same engine as yours. The engine's characteristics appealed to me for the reasons you've described, and I'm very happy with the blue! I have a rubber boot mat originally bought for a Honda Accord Tourer from about 2005 - used it in an Octavia MkIII Scout previously too.

I was told it would be about 4 months, but it actually took only 3.

Guess I'd better be patient then ...

How's your economy now?
