dynamo

Featured Replies

Hi, I think you posted in wrong vehicle... This is Fabia 2 and your profile says Felicia, which will differ significantly.

Also, dynamo's disappeared with the Dodo... Modern vehicles use alternators, which although similar, differ enough to be called a different thing.

Many alternators have brushes so you may find yours have worn out. Failing that, a rewire/renovation of the alternator may be the cheapest option or a good used one. A new one might not be as expensive as you think but all these options will require a certain amount of removal/replacement skill. You may well be up to it but if not, get it done by a proper auto electrician and it will last ages.

This is all supposing the unit has failed and it is not just the battery that has died.  Try being if the battery is charging, by using a battery tester on the plus and minus terminals. It will tell you if the battery is low and if it charges when driving/running the engine, etc.
