diesel engine

Featured Replies

Can i ask how many flavours of the diesal engine have been fitted to the yeti ??? i know mine is the 2.0ltr but i know nothing more about it :)

There have been the following 2lt models :
110 2WD

110 4WD

140 4WD

170 4WD

150 4WD
All were available either manual or DSG.

I believe there are 4 types; 110, 140, 150, 170. Unfortunately, your car is a 2015 when they swapped between the older 140/170 versions to the EU6 150 which doesn't help narrow it down.

You might be able to find out using your reg number in a insurance comparison website.

And that is where the confusions starts!!

The figures Skoda stated on the label are in "kilowatts" but in the UK the models were marketed by "Horsepower", which is what I listed, so yours is actually 150 hp.

Well, 110 KW is 150 PS which is actually about ~148 HP ;)

Another diesel that has been fitted to Yeti is the 1.6.

I bet that was a little disappointing in such a heavy beast :)

Output was the same as the 110bhp 2.0L diesel, with the same 250N/m torque. It also did well in the caravan Club Towcar awards if memory serves me correctly.

Interesting you mention a caravan as I plan to use my yeti for just that but was slightly concerned it may over stress that expensive DSG gearbox, but I sure I am stressing for no reason as I am surely not the first to tow with an auto box.

I towed a lightweight, 1200kg, pop-top Eriba for 4 summers with a 110bhp 2wd Yeti. Yes it would have been nice to have a bit more under my foot, but it was a good tow car and pulled the van well, even at height in the south of France fully loaded in the height of summer.

you can see the article on the Greenline here:- https://www.practicalcaravan.com/reviews/tow-car/31379-skoda-yeti

Exactly the opposite.
And with 60mpg and £30 a year road tax the best car we have had.
Also as it comes on 16" wheels a very comfortable ride with very cheap tyres that are only ½ worn at 30,000 miles.

Yes my company greenline was able to cruise all day at the motorway limit, had more comfortable wheels as the 16" suits the car better than the low profile 17" we have to accept in the uk, and did an average of 57mpg from the maxidot over the 45k I drove it for.

I had the elegance trim, electric drivers seat, so was comfortable as well, just limited to engine due to company car scheme rules. No real difference to the prior 110 Yeti I had before, but 10mpg better.

You had to think twice before committing to overtake on a single c'way road though!! No such issue with current 150ps car which I bought for myself with no company rules to comply with.

There's been lots, all variations on the 1.6l (two) and the 2.0l (eleven). For a long list see Wikipedia.

There's a letter in the VIN that denotes which engine you have.  I'm not sure atm which one it is but I'm sure an expert will be along shortly...

ooooh! this thread is nearly a year old, I imagine the OP has got his answer by now....

Thanks, I was aware, I thought it might help someone who came across the tread like I did...

There isn't a letter in the VIN that denotes the engine for VW/Skoda vehicles:

https://vindecoder.eu/skoda

https://www.youcanic.com/guide/decode-volkswagen-vin-number/2767

http://www.clubvw.org.au/vwvin

Instead, you'd need to lookup the entire VIN using the VW/Skoda servers to get the spec for a vehicle including the engine type.

1st post, 5th digit....?

Or does this not apply to FL models?
