Is it "just me" or is light-up bling on an EV the worst idea...?

  • It's the worst idea. It's like tasteless chrome additions on cars that doesn't need it.

That parcel shelf cable holder. Pure genius. gotta love Skoda for these things.

Today listening about the VW Strike in Germany i think the expert said VW make 1% profit on vehicles while Skoda make 9%.

Surely i misheard.

Sounds right. Much lower labour cost in CZ. SL even lower which it why it has the highest car production per capita in the world.

The SOLAR Facility part or Solar portable equipment might interest you if the car does not.

No for sale version of the Vision C yet, & no £17,000 EV on sale yet or even revealed as it might be @ over £21,000. Skoda is great at 'Concepts' and Imaginings, & getting Media space because of Click Bait articles.

If Skoda could just get out a BEV Estate car, and maybe a Light Commercial version. No back seats, they could then do a 'Pickup' and catch the attention of the buying public.

Just a fun 2 seater & under £25,000 in the UK.

I worry that SEAT and Skoda could go down with VW.

Since they are wholly owned subsidiaries of Volkswagen AG that's likely unless another car manufacturer wants to buy the brand name - but then they probably wouldn't be able to use VAG parts so would be SEAT or Skoda in name only.

@lol-lol Have you some investment in VW Group or has your pension provider.

I would not worry about VW Group, the Management / Board & Qatar Investments have been taking the P!th.

If they are viable they survive. If they build and sell what people want and make a profit they will survive.

If they Pyramid sell and keep selling cars not properly tested and without faults then they deserve to go under.

Not that I know of as it is mainly FTSE 100 and Gilts ie UK government debt.

One can find the recent half yearly hear.... https://www.volkswagen-group.com/en/financial-reports-18134#

Other numbers quote 52,000 workers to go. Tough for all the European car companies of course against the Chinese impetus with EVs and EU Anti Dumping Duty providing some protection and one wonders if that is needed for hybrids as well at some point so ie similar levels of customs and ADD to protect that European sector too.

Volkswagen Says 20,000 Workers Agree to Early Departures (2)

Volkswagen AG said about 20,000 employees will voluntarily leave the company by the end of the decade as the carmaker restructures its German operations to cope with uneven demand for its vehicles.

The wait goes on.

But by the time they have one for sale they should have it being very efficient.

Are Skoda no place yet with a Small EV, £17,000, £20,000, Under £25,000 The Epiq ? I thought the Peaq was going to be something smaller but i totally got that wrong with it being a 7 seater and bigger than a Kodiaq. ,

Edited by Evolution13

The Epiq is due out in September I think, based on the same platform as the VW Polo, ID Cross and Cupra Raval. Its not a proper small car being about the size of the Kamiq and certainly not sub-20K.

The 8 Rectangular holes are over kill. It is not a Jeep or a Suzuki Jimny and never will be.
