Towbar advice

Hi guys, toying with the idea of a used towbar,as I usually fit one to my cars.

 

Looking on the bay ,often see ones adevertised as fitting the Superb ,but also for (maybe,cant recall exactly) passat or A4?

 

Is this correct or just misleading advertising .

 

Obviously parts are shared across the VW range but I wouldve thought towbars are much more vehicle specific

The Skoda OE one has a 3T part number so it's safe to assume it's vehicle specific. I'd highly recommend shelling out for the Skoda 13-pin electric kit, or the Westfalia equivalent rather than getting a bypass relay kit. You get full integration with other vehicle systems: ESP towing mode, alarm, trailer bulb-out warnings, disabling of rear parking sensors. Whatever you do, stay away from anything that uses scotchlok connectors to splice into existing wiring - they'll cause you a world of pain.

BigDave982, take a close look. In my video you can see, what parts is needed and how difficult it is to retrofit:

 

I bought used towbar with full set (wire harness, module etc) around 200€.

The SC fuse box at 17 mins just needs sliding of the pink lock frame, not damaging it as shown. Another tip is the bolts removed from the discarded bumper frame need to be refitted to seal the bolt holes.
