Columbus 2019/2020 Map Update

Featured Replies

1 Hour is good going Kenny. Don’t know why there should be such a difference in upload times, but the main thing is that there’s no problem switching off and leaving it to do its thing.

Olderman1, I reckon it’s applicable to all Columbus infotainment units.

Thanks for all the info guys, most helpful. I now have the update on a USB stick, so I'll try to get it to talk to my car today or tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, this sort of thing rarely goes smoothly for me.😏

Just done mine. Nice and easy.

To also support what others have said, the car does not need to be unlocked, nor does the infotainment system need to be to turned on, or the ignition. Mine updated whilst everything was off and the car locked...

After transferring the files to my SD card, popped it in the SD card slot in the glovebox.

Turned on the infotainment system and then followed this path...

> Press "Menu" > "Settings" > "System Information" > "Update software"

You can see on the fifth line of text on the screen "2019"...

Hit the "Update software" button, it's now checking the SD card slots...

It's found the files on the SD card "2019/2020"...

The wait begins...

Locked up the car and left it a couple of hours whilst I went to the pub 🍺

Came home, tuned on the infotainment system, the screen defaulted back to the radio, so I had to follow this process again...

> Press "Menu" > "Settings" > "System Information"

All done...

From your computer to the SD Card / USB, or from the SD Card / USB to the car?

Did mine today via a USB stick. Seems to have worked okay as screen now says I have the latest version. It downloaded to the car just as others have said, even when I left the car unattended.

I used it for a 9 mile journey to get me home afterwards just to see if the sat nav still works 🤔. Probably my imagination, but the nice lady who gives directions didn't seem to be talking to me as much as before, so I'll see how it goes.

Well, I have a 64GB SD card and I fancy doing the update ...

But does it matter how I download the files onto the card?  My previous attempts at using an SD card in the Kodiaq (to play music through the infotainment) hit the skids because of the way my iMac saves hidden files onto the card, which the system stalled on.  Those didn’t appear with my previous Windows-based laptop (now dead).  I fixed that by borrowing a windows laptop and deleting the spurious files ... but do I have to go through that nonsense with the nav files?

Macs put all sort of hidden files on the SD card which the Skoda Sat Nav systems don’t like. There is a program on the apple App Store called clean my disk that fixes this.

Thanks for that, Jfhuk, I’ll give it a go.

Well, I bought my Kodi back in april 2017 brand new very excited about it, but the maps were out of date the day i picked it up..! :(

But I use a TomTom anyway, however we do a lot of driving in France and last year they reduced their speed limit on A roads from 90Km/h to 80 Km/h and my wife got a speeding ticket at 84Km but the Kodi was saying 90 obviously as it had never updated the Maps - i had asked them on a service to update but nothing - I had tried to update on my drive using the home wifi but it never seemed to work - I asked the garage again as my aircon packed up to look at the maps as well but the update for maps website is not working. So I looked on here and hey presto you guys have sorted it thank you - I downloaded this onto my PC then onto an SD card put it in this morning and it was over 50% through in about 15 mins so hoping its completed by now.

No one advised that I should go online at Skoda myself for updates to SW or Maps - I had no idea and its t2.5 years old still had 2017 maps in it.... So I am very pleased thank you.

Also had the aircon sensor changed as it kept shutting off and never blew out ice cold air only cool - seems all fixed now too.
