Mystery switch ?

Featured Replies

Hi all , hope someone can help !

Skoda fabia 51 plate

On the driver's side there is a small compartment on the lower part of the dashboard

A small glove box you could say

Inside this there is a pull out tab with on written on it

Any ideas what this is ?

Or what it does ??

Many thanks

It's air conditioning for your coke can.

On the driver's side ?

I know the passenger side has a dial that you can turn , to chill the glove box

It does , did have 2 copper tabs in it

Which fell out as I pulled it out

Just kidding, it's the passengers ejection seat, don't pull the tab until the mother in law is sat right next to you.

Well the car starts and the lights work

So it's definitely a mystery to me

Electricity and magnets, no-one truly understands any of it really, alien technology most likely.

It allows chilled air from the A/C into the cubby box.

I told him, he didn't believe me, so I made up something more plausible in the spirit of our post truth age.

It has been fitted upside down, it really says 'NO' 😱

Thanks AG Falco

Still can't believe people are asking this question after all these years.

It's pretty obvious what it does lol.

At the risk of looking like your typical Bmw driver !

Can someone please tell me what this is ?

Right hand drive MK1 fabia

Right hand side cubby hole

The one you pull down to see the obd port

Top right of this cubby hole is a pull out clip ? With on written on it ?

In words , not clever comments !

What is this

Please , somebody tell me !!

You've been given the correct answer several times.

That compartment gets connected into the vent system when the lever is pulled towards you.

So that cubby can be used to keep a drink can cool until needed, for example.

I've never tried it to see how well it works though.

Here you are if you don't believe us :tongueout: ....

From the size of the compartment, it's either a very small can of the drink, or a large bag of the powder 😎

It could also be used to keep a small pastie warm.

Or even a pasty 😉

Not both at the same time though
