The dreadful doorlock issue has come to bite me

Featured Replies

Hello folks, it's me again with yet another annoying issue with my 2007 Mk1 Fabia Elegance.

It all started a week ago when I got out of my car (engine running, key on ign) to go to a store just in front of the curb. No biggie, just get out, fetch something, get back in the car, right? WRONG! The driver's door was closed, locked, car running, keys inside. I had to call home so someone would get me the spare key. "That's weird, I must have touched something" I thought, and kept going.

Yesterday, the driver's door lock would act erratically. It would lock with the central locking switch just to jump open at the very moment. BUT WAIT! Open the door, *click* it would lock itself. It also compromised the boot opening mechanism as it monitors the door being unlocked and open after 5 minutes or something. Sometimes I get out to open the boot just to find it doesn't work and I have to actually unlock it via the central locking switch. Hell the other day I had to pry it open using the emergency opening mechanism through the backseat... Imagine if I had stuff in the boot.

I think it might be a solder joint somewhere in the driver's door mechanism itself, as it's the only door with an issue, or (not likely, who knows?) the central locking switch, and God bless it's not the comfort module...

I know this issue has been covered a thousand times per year but I just wanted to vent it out. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance people.

Try ten thousand times before.

REPLACE THE LOCK!
