Quieter acoustic glass

Recommended Posts

Some of us have read about this in some other markets.

Why isn't it offered as an option in the UK market ?  Don't we like quiet journeys ????

Or, is it already incorporated as standard ? ( I've no idea )

With windscreen replacement common, it maybe something to do with logistics, having to carry expensive spare glass in stock or reluctance of windscreen companies like Autoglass to stock, or even insurance companies not willing because of the limited excess they charge.

Might even require specialist fitting equipment.

Or simply VW UK blocking Skoda UK from getting too competitive.

Who knows? (Skoda UK does, but they won't say)

Yeah - I just checked and found it is an option in Ireland for side and rear windows . I'm a little surprised that the UK wouldn't  as you usually get a bigger range of trims, engines and specs...

Skoda are frankly a pain when it comes to things like this. Ditto silly nonsense like requiring Kessy keyless system if you spec the Canton ( maybe not now ) but there seems dubious reason often for this kind of thing.

It was suggested above that VAG may be sticking tbeir oar in to prevent it and being the suspicious minded person I am that wouldn't surprise me either.

I would say though, that given we are dealing with a car that is not a luxury build fundamentally, anything tht could be done to cut noise, even  if only as a chargeable option, should be offered. But again, I am suspicous of group politics here.

Given your general criticism of all things Skoda across recent posts perhaps you should really consider changing brands in due course to save yourself any more stress ........

I was thinking just the same.

To be fair there are one or two others on here just the same.

The recent comments are a misinterpretation of my stance.

I do appreciate Skoda but I think there are certain things they do that both let them down and need not be. I also think that certain needless policies have a bigger effect than they realise, e.g. forced larger wheels.

I advocate for change because I want to continue involvement and not be put off the brand.  I wouldn't bother trying to make my points here if this were not the case.

I would class @Meow comments as frustration and constructive criticism directed at Skoda UK, not Skoda the parent company.

He makes very valid points, a large number of customers if not the majority will be looking at Superb as a value for money luxury barge, I certainly was. Not at all interested in out and out performance or the bling of sport lines and lowered suspensions, stupid wheel sizes or even gangster black windows.

Comfort and tranquility are the desired priority, and long term low cost of ownership which was once Skoda's strong point is important too.

I have an SEL, thankfully without Kessy, which would be an unneeded option too far. Acoustic glass would have been top of the desired options to tick. Things like larger wheels, electric bootlids, dark tints etc should be customer options added over a base standard, across all trim levels.

All season tyres should be an option across all trims too.

If only Skoda UK would listen....

I know I'm late to the party here but I'm just after checking and looks like it's no longer offered in Ireland either. Shame, as it would have been top of my list if ordering one!

It's a skoda, not a jag, so we shouldn't expect superiority.

I used to own rovers and regularly had the pith taken out of me, but I buy my cars based on value for money and I accept it for what it is - a copy of something else which is better.

But so what. I don't see what the big deal is it, nor do I get upset about it.

I just do what I can to make it more enjoyable - for me, and if others don't like it, so what. It's not the end of the world.

Our S max has the double glazed front windows, not sure if it was an option or not but I was still surprised at Ford for being able to have such a feature. No wonder it weighs so much.
