L&K Skoda Superb Estate. Is a useless pile of crap.

 

All brochures and handbook show towing weights etc. After buying it mainly for towing am told you cant fit a tow bar to my model.

 

Pay an annual fee for info entertainment connections and they don't work where I live and neither I, the dealer or Skoda can update the system.

 

Radio keeps loosing audio.

 

Sensors trip and put brakes on when nothing there.

 

Virtual pedal has never worked, not even before tow bar fitted, removed and refitted.

 

Engine at normal temp in ambient above 10 deg ticks over for no reason at 1000 to 1100 rpm (no fans on for regen) Today with regn fans on it ticked oer at 800 rpm.

 

Skoda technical say drivers seat does not move when driver profile selected. Crap it does as guest, but wont to my profile.

 

Has 3 phone buttons in roof, customer care, breakdown, emergency. Last two work customer care says number not in use, main dealer and Skoda both say it cant, but dealer has seen and sent query to technical 3 weeks ago and still no reply

Yeah clean the car and I bet all the probs vanish !

what does the towing weight say on the V5.

Ok let's try to give the OP something positive to work with. First of all welcome to Briskoda. I too have an L&K - it's the best car I have ever owned. I also have a Skoda dealer - they are a useless pile of cr@p. Many of us feel your pain with them.

Have you spoken to a specialist (not the Skoda dealer) about this? Which L&K do you have? What are you trying to tow? Lots of people on the site use their Superbs for towing so unless you want to tow a house I'd be surprised if it can't be done.

Is that Skoda Connect? Lots of people on here don't have much of a good word for it. Have a search - maybe you can find a fix (or make a note not to pay for it next year).

Are you using DAB? Reception is notoriously patchy and in Wales (the few bits I've been to anyway) mine regularly loses reception. But it does work on FM. Not the car's fault.

I've had this happen once - I believe a leaf blew into the sensor. A dab on the accelerator overrides the warning. Also make sure the radar cover is always clean, in case that is causing false warnings.

I found this a bit hit-and-miss until I learned what type of kick is needed. Since then it's worked every time. Worth persevering with if you need the function. Others have found faults with theirs. It's worth doing a search on here so you have some evidence if you need to go back to the dealer. The search function is at the top right hand corner of the page.

 Mine does this if I brake gently to a halt. If I press the brake firmly once stopped it reduces the idle to 750-800. I believe it is normal. I can't get it to idle at 800 when regenerating though.

This is just plain wrong of Skoda. I'd try copying the guest profile and building a new one for yourself from it. It took me a couple of goes to get personalisation set up, but now it works perfectly.

Can't help with this one I'm afraid because mine is 2017 and doesn't have this function.

 

Good luck with sorting it. It really is a great car.

A Case note was raised by Skoda Customer Care end of January and referred to Skoda Technical and so far not one fault has been sorted. Skoda technical are crap, tell lies eg. Seat on my model does not change according to key profile, which is totally false as it does if you select guest instead of any of the three key profiles.

Had Mk2 before which was brill for towing caravan, boat, horse box and trailers. This model Mk3 is incapable of towing anything according to Skoda technical as fitting a tow bar craps our the electronic car systems.

 

The car has been in the dealers roughly every two months, not long ago they had all three keys and had the car for 3 days and it came back with the same faults it went in with.

So how is it that I bought my Mk3 with a tow bar fitted by Skoda it works perfectley?

I don't know which dealer you use, but I go to Sinclair's of Swansea and I've found them OK so far and in the 2 year's that I've had the car, it's been in for two services but the only warranty work was replacing the trim on the nearside rear door that was catching on the front door and putting back the electric window switch on the front passenger door that has partially slipped inside the door.  Both were repaired satisfactorily with no quibbles, though I've not needed to put them through their paces and see if they can resolve any more knotty issues.
