Is 95 Tsi only engine available now?

Featured Replies

Looking at the online configurator and brochure it seems to be the only engine now? Or is it a bug in their website?

Yes, see:

So what does this mean for the current model Fabia? Are they gong to phase it out a couple of years sooner than expected?

Nothing is known yet, but the new Kamiq, revised Octavia and facelifted Superb are the changes for next few months.  Would have thought any major changes to Fabia are 1-2 years away.

There was a news story on Seat site about a new 6 speed manual gearbox MQ281 that is more efficient than the old MQ200 for Seat, VW and Skoda.   Possibly if this changes efficiency, then cars need emissions retesting.

This seems more consistent with a temporary reduction on availability of manual gearbox cars.  That plant appears to be making 450,000 new MQ281 and 350,000 MQ200 = 800,000 gearboxes.  Just a guess, perhaps the MQ200 is used in lower powered cars and these are only ones available during switchover.

I'm very pleased with my 1L 110 tsi, I noticed the other makes in the VW group have 1L 115 tsi engines

Bumping this thread. For some reason the Fabia is now available with the 60hp MPI engine again as well as the 95hp TSI according to the latest online brochure/configurator. Seems a strange move, unless they have found a few thousand of them in a storage facility somewhere and want shot of them and can no longer install them in the Citigo?

They've had the option of 60/75 MPI engines for a while, it seems to depend which trim level you look at, as to what options it shows.

60 wee horses in a Fabia with no turbo for torque damn.. i drove a 1.0 MPI 75ps Citigo Monte Carlo and that was rather sluggish, quite lumpy feel engine vs the 1.0 TSI. I cant imagine it coping well in a fabia at anything faster than city speeds..

I had a 60ps Fabia for a while. In fact, it coped quite well on dual carriageways and motorways. Would cruise at 70 all day, overtaking was a matter of leaving yourself a bit more room, if you have ever driven a Fabia Mk1 SDI you will know what I mean, though the Mk3 60ps is a bit quicker.

I've never been in a MK1 or MK2, so i'm not too sure, the MK2 was a TDI with a poorly turbo to the point where it barely made any boost and was sluggish as well.. a slug.. it drove like a really rough loud petrol with no torque 😂 wasn't mine though, was a colleagues who had noticed it was struggling to get up hills!

The 1.2 90 can keep in 5th up quite steep hills and so long as you keep above ~1500rpm it has enough torque to keep going.. below 1500rpm there's no turbo assistance and there's bugger all torque, i'd assume the 60ps would need a bit more gear changing to keep going up hills well enough? They are nice little engines, the made the Citigo feel more powerful than it was which was kinda nice

Very true, on both counts.

The 'new' 1.0 60 is still faster than the old 1.2 55 and no-one really complained back then.

Yes but why drop it from the range and then reintroduce it a year later? I could understand them bringing back the 75hp MPI but the 60? It just makes no sense. It's even available in the Colour Edition which is supposed to be one of the sportier models....

Something to do with :-

NEDC

WLTP

RDE &

PEMS

testing I would think.

Thanks AG Falco

Skoda never made any Sporty models or even supposed Sporty Mk3's,  The Colour edition was just another trim / paint option.

they just spoke about Rally DNA and built  as a max 110ps cars & for publicity R5 rally cars and a limited edition R5 1.4 TSI 125ps DSG.

RDE2 has a lot to do with MY20 cars and ones into the future.

Just been on the configurator. Has the DSG option now been removed for the Fabia?

For S / SE / Colour Edition;

- 60ps 1.0 MPI

- 95ps 1.0 TSI

- Both with 5spd Manual

For SE L & MC;

- 95ps 1.0 TSI

- 5spd Manual

No more DSG, no more 110ps.

Interesting move for sure!

Note, Adding Colour Edition paint option to another trim level, doesn't give you extra options, just changes the paint and wheel colour options!

I was looking at the VW UP with the 1.0 TSI 90PS engine back in June. ( They haven't put it in the Citigo )

I noticed on the salesman's pad that of the ones left they had to be sold by the 15th August.

I don't know why but it appears to be happening with lots of cars.

Thanks AG Falco

That I knew.

It was more the 'we have to sell these ones already made by 15th August' I was curious about?

Thanks AG Falco

No auto Fabia no choice no buy.

The Scala is available with  DSG but I don't like it.
