How to handle/live with dragon green?

Featured Replies

So I'm seriously thinking about depositing a dragon green superb. It's kind of got all the things I want and I can retro the two missing, so actually it's got none of the bits I want :D

SWMBO is ok with the colour, she think is it's yellow, I'm good with that.... but I'm not sure I'm comfortable on a few levels.

But first up, I do like the colour.

However, I'm not sure it's quite the sleeper look I'm after.

It will be parked on the street amongst grey, black, white, red, it will stand out a tad, again not sure it's the uninteresting car I want to 'show'.

So I fell asleep and awoke thinking about how to handle the sore thumb that will be sat outside.

Own it?  Wrap it in matt black? Krook lock? rfid box for keys :)

Thoughts on owning a standout colour, would you?

If the octavia Vrs came in Dragon Green that would be my first choice. Dragon green every time.  Meteor grey on the Superb suits the car as well

I love meteor grey, I always have done since first seeing it on an Octy vRS.  (well I think it was Nardo grey on an audi RS6 that I seen first but..).  My only issue with the colour now is...it's bloody everywhere!  I paid for the colour when spec'ing mine and shortly after delivery it became the free colour on the configurator, replacing whichever shade of white.  I can only surmise that the shift to it being free has led to it growing in popularity as it can't be the fact the locals have seem mine and thought "wow an unpainted Skoda, I need that in my life!"

I'm also miffed that you can spec just about any other Skoda in MG now.  I think it should have remained exclusive to Sportline/MC/vRS spec.

Now Dragon Green... I've seen it a few times now and whilst it looks very nice, it's a bit too loud for me, especially on such a big car.  However, I do like the fact it's currently exclusive to the Sportline and if I owned one I'd be pretty miffed when a budget spec 1.0 Scala pulled up next to me in the same colour (as will likely happen when Skoda do their usual colour recycling across the models).   It is a very nice colour though but just not for me.

Other than Silver (which is often overlooked and looks amazing on a Sportline) I think MG and DG are the best choices for a Sportline as they work well with the contrasting gloss black trim.

Looks like both those cars are 272/280's Colin?   Regardless of colour I can 100% guarantee you'll love the car!

Yup two random photos. The grey is a possible purchase, but standard SportlinePlus, so no toys... other than the raft it comes with :) There are quite a few DG.

DG wrapped in MG?

I made a similar comment a few days ago when it was announced Race Blue will soon be available on the Superb Sportline.  Lovely colour but no longer 'special' as it's probably the most popular colour of all the Skoda's I see locally.

I've only seen one, in my local dealers showroom when mine was in for a service.  I actually kicked myself for not considering it.  Looked bloody awesome!

@ColinD  Your wife is right: it's yellow with a hint of blue. Get it. You'll be able to pick it out in the supermarket parking lot. Embrace colour in this drab and increasingly tedious and fractured world. Live a little. No, live a LOT !!! Stand proudly next to your eyeball-bursting, crowd-defying beauty of a motor and bravely shout, "You're all just green with ENVY, you colour cowards !!!"

Or, you could go with the flow. Who could blame you...

My wife wanted Dragon Green but doesn't like sports seats .  The demo we drove was Petrol Blue and that was the decider . .

Anything but Grey ! ! ! !

Fortunately mine has a blue ford focus. We have not talked seats yet, should be fine so long as the pan can tilt down. I just sit in, on whatever...  don't alter her seat in the ford at all.

There is a bright orange nissan SUV thing outside at the moment, looks good, bright and different :)

I just don't want the attention on the road, traffic lights etc, might have to put a 1.4 badge on it :D

I love Dragon Green and it is my favourite colour. If I could have got my Superb L & K in it that would have been excellent. I like to stand out in the crowd so my next car is turmeric yellow.

Meteor Grey = yuk...

Dragon Green = fantastic.

I'm a fan of bright colours and have never had an issue with them 'standing  out'.  In fact think of all the positives - easier to see / less likely to be involved in an accident / less likely to be stolen as it's a less popular colour to sell on / if it is stolen it's easier to find / better in bad weather / easier to find in a car park...   lots of positives...

I think the stocks are moving freely ;)

A brilliant silver just popped up and it wasn't there on monday ( I'm sure ). But 28k BS v 25kDG similar enough specs, just 200miles further south for the BS one hence the price bump I think, london weighting. A MB one in Scotland :D these with the right combo of toys not in DG :D But @freelunch words ringing loud :D I've never seen a DG anywhere... I'll have to be a good driver too ;)

Another just knocked another grand off just for me asking about dsg 6 v 7 :D  Wonder how many other odd models changes I can find out about :D

Colin buy the DG you won't regret it, it's a great colour. When I bought my Ralleye Green VRS Octavia in 2015. There were initially some comments along the lines of 'blimey are you sure? ' Then as people got used to it, invariably complimentary comments. DG is a rare colour and you'll never have to look hard for it in a sea of grey/black cars. My wife commented on this the other day when returning to our blue Golf. I.e. if we'd kept the green car we'd find it immediately.

ahh the dragon green decision , you want to pull the trigger but the head keeps telling you dont do it  😍

something up there  keeps telling you

i'll be the centre of attention, yes of course you will, because it stands out & you rarely see any   😎

it'll be hard to sell on when the time comes, probably, nobody buys dragon green do they ?

i've never seen one in the flesh only online photos,

i wonder how many skoda have sold, it's been a sportline colour for a few years now, yet you never see any on the road and it's still an option on the new facelift.

most manufacturers are quick to drop anything that does'nt  sell,

skoda must have a reason for keeping it  🙄

Ok, it's not Dragon Green nor a Superb, but I did have it seven years and no harm came to it at all. More women than men liked it and you've got to either have deep pockets for the local car wash or be comfortable doing your own diy job. I'd have a dragon green superb in a heartbeat but wasn't comfortable paying the extra £900 for it. 😞

thats the thing with dragon green, you pay more for it new and get less for it used compared to other colours

a loss - loss  situation,

unless you buy second hand, then a win - win   😎

@ColinD If you think Dragon green is a bit 'too much' amongst black, white and grey ones in your street, and a Metero Grey is somehow too... common..

Why don't you think about a Velvet Red for a Sportline. As DG, it's quite rare on a Superb, and not as 'flashy' as the DG. It may be a good compromise

Even if Race blue is really nice and could be good compromise between MG and DG, I think it may become quite common too...

Some may think DG may be difficult to sell when you want to change your car. But it may also be a good thing because it enable you to defferenciate from other common black, white and greys... Some may want absolutely a DG and no other color...

Anyway don't forget! You chose, not the others... ;)

Meteor Grey is very popular here in Essex so my dealer tells me and it often gets refereed to as Essex Grey!

My first MK3 Superb was Brilliant Silver, then I had a Quartz Grey one which I loved and now I've got a Brilliant Silver one again.  I think the grille on the Sportline sets off the Brilliant Silver fantastically.

Dragon Green is maybe a bit marmite.

me - I love it and would have tried to get my L&K in that colour but it’s wasn’t an available option. Sad, however I can see the merit in restricting certain colours for certain models.

as regards future resale, I always take the view that I’m buying the car for me, and not the future owner. I doubt the value of the car will be much less than one of the boring colours, if so what? £500? So if you keep the car 3 years that’s maybe an extra 45p per day depreciation. My man maths would justify that (and more 😂) to be able to enjoy DG.

velvet red is a great looking colour, it has a rich look to it, especially in the sunlight, but i think it looks better with chrome trim so maybe better looking on an l&k etc

Dragon Green looks fantastic, do it!
