1.5 TSI disappeared

Recommended Posts

The following post shows the 1.5 TSI is no longer on the configurator, just checked and confirmed it’s not there.

I wonder if it’s been culled or changed?

if you want a petrol minimum is 2.0 TSI SEL at the moment (according to the configurator)

It’s either a temporary website glitch while they sort out the details ... or a SERIOUS cull!

The SE Kodiaq shows no petrols at all, and no Kodiaq has 2WD and manual gearbox.  I can’t imagine they really mean that ... can I?

The latest Price & Specs document from Skoda UK (July 2019, MY20) confirms the 1.5 TSI is no longer available for the Kodiaq. As you can only buy a 5 seater in SE trim - with diesel engines - it looks like Skoda UK are pushing a big marketing wedge between the Karoq and the Kodiaq.

I’ve got a 1.5 se dsg on order. Factory received the order 3 weeks ago. Hopefully they’ll still honour the order 😬

I have the 1.5 TSi 4x4 DSG drivetrain, and took a fully loaded car on a 200 mile trek across to the west coast of Scotland.  Apart from having to go down a gear or 2 on steeper hills, it handled it no problem.  So, don't see why this engine is no longer available.

Maybe not currently available for delivery in the near future due to issues with those that might have issues under WLTP / RDE later in 2019 and into 2020.

Only VW could say, or are building 1.5TSI EVO engines not a priority for a while?

I'm guessing it has to do with the emissions.  Your car will not have had to go through the WDE assessment, which will apply to cars sold from 1 September 2019.

It looks (from the reports of how the manual versions have difficulty when cold) that VW, etc, are having difficulty getting the engine to run properly at its "green" settings.

After all the scandal they've gone through by, shall we say, "misquoting" emissions figures, VW wont want to do the same again to get the 1.5 through.

Hi @Stu_Magoo, we have got the same drivetrain combo and as you say it is exceptionally smooth, quiet and powerful enough 95% of the time over the first 2,000 miles.

Out of interest, what is a typical mpg achieved?

I'm up to 1,800 miles now.  When I was fully laden, I got 28 mpg.  Best I have got is 34 mpg on a country drive, and about 26 driving around town.  I had a couple of trips over to the Scotland west coast as well by myself.  One trip I was in sports mode, and got 30 mpg, the other time I took a much hillier route, and also got 30.

Thank you for this....very similar to my experience. MPG seems to be improving gradually as the miles go up also.

Did a 51 mile trip last night, which was a mix of city, dual carriageway, fairly straight A road and twisty and slightly hilly B road.  Average mpg was 34.1, with average speed 40 mph.

I think I'm glad I didn't get 4x4.

(I know mine's a 1.4, but the 1.5 is supposed to be at least as economical.)

On a 127-mile journey of mixed motorway and A roads last week, from south of Birmingham to north of Lincoln, I kept to what the road works and/or speed limits would allow.  Quoted result:  46.7 mpg.

On the way home (bored, now) traffic was lighter and my right foot heavier.  Tried to keep to 70 all the way, but "occasionally" noticed 80 mph, officer.  Result considerably worse, at 37.4 mpg.  Worst I've seen, for out of town (where it does a reported 36).
