Debadging

Featured Replies

Anyone London/Kent area fancy doing it to mine for a fee?

I know, I know it's not that difficult but I tend to mess these sort of things up so would rather someone with experience do it properly first time!

Heat with hairdryer, then fishing wire or dental floss, keep slicing, then tar remover/white spirit to remove glue residue. Very hard to make a mess of it.

Even boil the kettle. have a cup of tea,

refill the kettle and boil it then pour the boiling water on the badge to be removed and use the Fishing Line, Floss etc.

Hmm maybe I'll give it a go but I'm wondering if it's something the dealer might do? Got to take the car in anyway.

Also, wouldn’t white spirit be bad for the paint?

Bhahaha.....a dealer is not going to help u "debadge" the car.

I got some tooth floss and a hair dryer to get the badges off.

Then some degresser to remove the glue.

Then I rebadged!!!  Hehehehe

A junior hacksaw followed by 40 grit sandpaper will rid you of those badges in no time

Or remove the SKODA letters from the back on any old model and simply space them out Volvo style and hey presto you have a Brand New Model.........simply.........S  K  O  D  A.

Haha I get they won't want branding removed but if it's something I'm going to get done anyway then they may as well get some money for it.

What degreaser did you use? Want to get a product I know for sure will work.

The dealer will probably wreck your paint and won't be as careful as you would. Any degreaser will work.

Ok thanks all, I'll give it a go soon. Will then be back to ask for assistance in rectifying the awful mess I've made 😂

@JR RS I like that, and oddly I don't like the new style skoda ala volvo. I do like the volvo's maybe cause they did it first.

But I do find myself liking the superb layout like that. Where did you source the letters?

I've done loads at dealers on request from the customer.

I used WD40.

Works a charm

Thanks.

I got the Superb lettering from Amazon.  Then with some bluetec, I practiced the spacing before actually sticking it on.

I did a similar thing with the front grille, to match the rear :)

Dealer "debadged " the car for me and for free :D. Maybe I was lucky to find kind and helpful dealer or he really needed to close a deal :D (I manually wrote request for "debadge" in a e-mail together with configuration list when placed an order)

Debadged mine this afternoon, took about 30 minutes. Never done it before and I was worried about messing it up like yourself but had no problems. I did watch a YouTube video yesterday just to see what they recommended. If you want to watch it:

    Included picture of mine after.

If it's good enough for other cars within VAG, then it should be good enough for Skoda! ;)
