I have wanted to replace my Favorit from just about the moment I heard you all raving about Fabia vRSs. We are never likely to get a vRS on part exchange (then I could get it at trade price), so that leaves me having to buy one at retail price.

There is a Yellow one for sale at my nearby skoda garage. I have decided I want a yellow. It is a 04 plate with 25k miles. I can use the top secret sales guide to know that, assuming the bodywork etc is immaculate that they will have offered them about

40% personally I wouldnt.

How about a Pug 206 GTi ? Surely you coul dfind one of those for a lot less?

 sounds fine to me Emily and and see how close to £9600 you can get it

shame ya will loose your turbo Fav :(

Or a 206 HDI? Or a Fabia 110 TDI?

In a word , no.

They are very nice cars , but I wouldn't be in any great hurry to spend so much of my income on any vehicle especially so soon after getting a job , and over a hundred quid a month on insurance is daft IMO.

Figure out how much it would cost you to buy and insure this furby then for the next couple of months try putting all of this in a bank account and living on what's left over. Then see how you feel about it.

Great advice from Dr. Z

If you can find a Pug you like, think of all the "at cost" parts and servicing you coul dhave too.

I do not want a Peugoet, I want a vRS.

I would not part exchange my Favorit because there is so much body work damage from me learning to drive I would have to pay them to take it away. Also it does not cost me anything until September (MOT due), so I will keep it for walking dogs anmd other dirty jobs.

I want a new car, although for sentimental reasons I love Vlad dearly, I want PAS, key blip central locking, CD player, ABS - I could go on, but you get the idea!

Assuming I get it for £9k (which I should be able to do) I am looking at £200 a month repayments and £100 to insure.

is it remmapped is that why its so high to insure?

My bank won

Definitely not worth it, imho! 40% is a big chunk of your income to lose just to pay for the car. Add insurance, diesel, tax, etc and it will soon become a signifiantly bigger chunk! I'd be surprised if they'd allow you to pass their affordability tests in that situation, especially if your bank have put something on your credit score about refusing you credit....

Better to use it as a goal and save some money each month towards it ... either that, or start telling everyone on here how great Pugs are so you get one in on p/x ;)

Probably down to her being 19 and working in the motor trade? :D

You could very easily get a tidy Octavia VRs for

I reckon you'll struggle to get them down to 9k from a main dealer - that'll be your first hurdle never mind where you'll find the money. You may have access to Glasses or CAP but it doesn't mean the dealer will drop his price to suit your estimations.

There are such sayings as learning to walk before you run etc - you might do well to heed them. 9K+ is a lot for someone of 19 to be thinking of borrowing in my view especially when it'll be 40% of your income. What will do you come service time or when the tax is due, starve??

Live a little, have some fun first.

Would take this as a hint personally - the point at which a bank refuses to loan you money is typically when it's a good idea to stop borrowing...

Putting 40% of your earnings into such a steeply depreciating asset probably wouldn't get the recommendation of any financial advisor!

Rob.

Nail on head.

Leave it a while Emily.

or get a cool funky felicia and do it up

Don't do it.

I fully agree with Dr Z, robmawer, Shifty and others.

The bank won't lend you the money - for good reason.

The insurance is

I just want to clarify the thing about the bank restricting my lending. I got myself in a bit of trouble with a credit card, so got a very small personal loan (£1750). Because my bank manager is a ba5tard he put a 9 month block on my lending. There was also the slight issue where sort of was going to be going out with him. He is a snotty little man, who by job description lends money to those who don’t need it, while preventing those who do.

I have a good credit rating for someone my age because I am not a student, and I have been paying the loan no problem for the last 4 months.

I tried to get insurance on a chipped one (167bhp), and no insurance company wanted to know.

Okay, I was feeling a bit bitter then.

He really is a toad.

Why not look at something like a Ford Focus zetec. We recently brought our second 1.8 petrol version and also have a Furby vRS. I have to say that I think the zetec is better round corners than the vRS but is slower in a straight line.

Insurance group is 6 and there are plenty around to choose from including some yellow examples. Servicing is cheaper than the Skoda as well.

You could also consider a Puma but not sure what they're like for insurance.

when I took a two year loan out on my car with the bank

it was equall to my annual salary at the time

and since been paying it off with about 50% of my monthly wages

(£450 - £500 a month)

also the fabia saved me £5 - £10 a week in fuel bills so that sort of help

people good at maths will realise I'm not on very good money

now the car is paid off I have money to treat becky

(but shush don't tel her that)

Your Young Treat yourself while you don't have kids to support :D

Em,

Wait. New Furby out next year. Old Furby will drop in price - as will your insurance.

If your dealer offers you a 107 cheap - with a free insurance offer - grab it. Look at a lease deal.

When you're on the commision caper, put all your commision cash aside. with a little luck you may have anough to put a 50% deposit on one of the last VRS' (suspect VRS will continue for another year when the new model comes around). then you should have 40 - 50% NCD -
