Rear Indicator problem

Featured Replies

two weeks ago my drivers side rear indicator wasn't working. took it out checked the bulb it looked fine, there is no corrosion on the bulb holder, couldn't see any problem with the wire so put the bulb in from the other side worked fine. all the other lights on the drivers rear are working fine I replaced the bulb and this morning same thing happened again. We had thunder storms last night and heavy rain. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Sorry, not with the driver's side. If it was the passenger side I'd ask if the rear washer was working.

No the rear washer isn't working at the moment but I have read on some of the threads that this is a common fault and I need to see where it has come apart.

Well, there's a joint between the LH rear light and the inner wing that often comes apart. If you have the wing mounted CD stacker, right under that!

No I don't have a wing mounted cd stacker but i'm sure I can find it from where you are saying it is.

Fabia doesn’t have the CD changer in the luggage compartment, if installed it goes under the passenger seat.

There is a washer connection in the nsr but its up quite high compared to the Octavia.

It’s probably a bulb holder tbh

I have the famous leaking door on the rear driver's side is that likely to affect the rear indicator?

I doubt it.

You need to check if there's power at the bulb holder using a meter or preferably a 12 volt test bulb. The wire colour for the driver's side rear indicator is black/green. Switch the indicator on and put one side of the bulb to that wire at the light cluster plug and the other side to the metal on the boot lock. The test bulb will flash if power is getting to the plug. You can make a test lamp by soldering two wires to a 12 volt 21 watt bulb.

Fakenham Auto Electrics are having it on Friday for the day and there gonna check indicator, battery and find which fault I have on the flooding engine when warm problem but thanks for answering that question.

I do have quirky electrics  on the car namely front electric windows, door warning lights flickering on and off and a clicking sort of humming noise in the dash when they are flickering, I have to have interior lights turn off because they can come on and stay on  at random if I don't and it's always worse when it's wet or damp weather. Having looked at some of the threads it seems some of them are quite common problems though.

Does your rear washer work? There is a pipe connection behind the left rear trim that often comes apart and can soak the floor making it look like it's the door leaking.

No it doesn't work and I was reading some of the threads on that but it's peeing with rain again here and thunderstorms warnings and when I got home the bottom part of the rear door is wet and there is water pooling on the seal on the sill when you open the door.

Ah ok.

When I spoke to the bloke on the phone this morning about the flooding and I think it was Ken who said it sounded like the coolant temperature sensor or cold enrichment is faulty on my spark plug thread and to do a vcrs for which one is faulty the bloke asked me if my engine management light was on but it isn't on so he said it won't give him fault code but he asked if it was a VW because he said there is a common fault with a particular sensor.

Coolant sensors can fail with no fault codes. The ECU just thinks the engine is cold so injects too much fuel.

That seems to be the case with mine as it starts straight away when cold but floods it when warm.

Yeah, pretty cheap part to replace too.

I don't need a big bill right now as I have rd tax the end of this month and i still find it weird that the skoda cost £10 less that the old T reg rover 200 2lt TD cost me. And I also have to get a petsafe electric fence system to keep my ASBO cat away from the neighbourhood's 4 and 5 doors down as I keep getting phone calls off them about attacking their cats and going houses. 🙄

LOL at "ASBO Cat". :) (and I may or may not have said but I am a car purrson)

I didn't mean looking at fault codes; VCDS will also read the water temperature that the CTS is reporting to the EMS.

Haha. I've currently got the neighbour's cat asleep on my sofa. He comes to see me every day and I spoil him with Dreamies and stuff.
