VCDS Longcoding mistake - Severe loss of functions

Featured Replies

Hi there

Lesson learned: I will never use counterfeit car interfaces again.

Obviously i manage to **** up my car totally with a Chinese counterfeit Ross-tech HEX-V2 usb interface.

I was trying to activate  bit 0 "Locking Confirmation via Horn active" under byte 15 for the 09-Cent. Elect.

Picture taken right before pressing "Do it"

Got message "Code accepted".

This resulted in a loss of Fotwell Lights, DRL-lights, Parking-lights, Fog-lights, some fault codes and probably something else.

I now realized that the entire longcode for the module had changed completely from what it was before i activated bit 0 under byte 15.

It had changed to:

190AB8E00508C0400800C0710089ED4B7000AE636DA5608081C704004100 ,the old code were:

60190AB8E00508C0400800C0710089ED4B7000AE636DA5608081C7040041 (before activating bit 0)

I now tried to change the entire longcode to the old code; 60190AB8E00508C0400800C0710089ED4B7000AE636DA5608081C7040041

Code accepted but no change, still the wrong longcode present in the module and same error and loss.

Now I dont know what to do. Does any one have any Ideas?

Is this fixable with a genuine Rosstec interface or do i need to replace the entire module and reprogram it?

Can/will a service workshop fix this kind of problem?

You changed byte 18...

Given the original value was 00 you either need a dealer or knowledgeable VCP/Odis user to sort out your light configuration.

You might be able to find something that's close if you Google for the code list.

I had assumed that selecting one of the options (in this example bit 0 ) was a safe option.

also as this is labelled bit zero how did it result in a change to byte 18..I feel I am missing something obvious re bits and bytes?

The whole long coding got shifted one byte to the right.

oh yes I see that now. thankyou

Is that because it was a fake unit perhaps?

Could be down to the dodgy software/hardware or just user error. Hard to tell really 😕
