Ok, Car is 38 months old and, out of warranty, with 37500 miles done, so was due its fourth fixed service.

First three done by Meadens Skoda in Brockenhurst in Hampshire and all good there.

I have owned it from new and I did the fourth service yesterday:-

4 litres of oil and new filter. Filter at the front of the engine from below, twist off/on.

Oil drain plug is 19mm at back of engine.

Spark plugs required at 40k miles so did them as well. They were a good colour but wanted doing.

You need to remove the four coil packs carefully to get to the spark plugs. Only pull straight out and not at an angle.

To change the spark plugs you need to remove the air filter housing, with the air filter due at 60k miles.

I changed the air filter as well, perhaps this didn't need doing, as it was fairly clean with only one leaf inside the housing.

Front tyres at 5 mm but changed for new ones at 27k miles, with original rear tyres down to 4 mm. Tyres rotated.

Front brake pads at 10 mm and rear pads at 8mm, with all brakes stripped, cleaned and regreased.

All disk faces are clean, flat and have no rust spots/patches high points. All are original brake parts.

Bosch filters, NGK spark plugs and tradeTec oil came to less than £80.00 with 1 litre oil spare.

The car wanted 0.5 litre of oil before the first service but has not consumed any oil since.

Both service and inspection warning messages reset.

Scanned car and no faults stored.

All good, can't complain. I have had nothing go wrong with the car so far.

Still like the car and as usual for me I will keep for a long time.

Thanks AG Falco

My car is 36 months old with 11 K Miles on it. Shall I still change the spark plugs?

I am registered there. Never noticed that menu on the left hand side before :D

I thought updating service history would be accessible for garages only. So I pay 7 euros and can add anything to service history myself? Sounds little bit dodgy. I remember then I bought a car sales guy said you don't get paper service book because online is safer and prevents fraud.

Online has never stopped some Dealerships selling an ex demonstrator that shows a Service at 3,000 miles and however many months and it was just an Oil Change if even that.

If anyone is likely to commit fraud which costs them billions in the motor trade then No.1 would be VW.

As to dealerships / motor supermarkets there are a few dodgy ones of those around.

Will it let you go back and record services that you "ahem" forgot to record before?

Do you have to fork out €7 each time you update the service record?

There is a date limit of about 10 days that you can go back to.

You can use the date as the order number if you could not do it within the time frame.

You will also have the parts invoice to back this up with. ;)

Thanks, AG Falco

I have created a new password and have got access once again to Erwin Skoda but no real access unless I pay out the €7 so will plan what I need to download, when i do that is it simply a question of filling out my vehicles VIN and registering it and will I then be able to fill out the service I did back whenever I did it?

And more importantly will it show up any previous service records?

Can you add other things like Haldex oil changed & filter cleaned, brake disc replacements etc etc?

Maybe I should wait till the next service.

You can see what you have posted.

Skoda can see everything that has been posted.

You can ask Skoda to print out a copy for you.

There is very little detail on the print out though.

Yes.

Unless you use it regularly it is not easy to work out the first time.

Thanks, so from what you have said I cant print out a service history including my own services?

Cant see the point in spending the time & money in which case, I would only be doing it to have something to pass on to the new owner when I sell, up to now I have stamped the service book.

I suppose I could save a screen shot.

You can print out what you post.

You cannot print out what you didn't post.

Skoda can print out everything.

Invoices for work done /parts listed with all the details are better than just a stamped service book.

6th Service done yesterday at 55000 miles.

Oil and filter changed and replaced the cabin filter this time.

Bought 20 Litres of oil this time as I have three cars to do that can all use the same oil.

Both filters and 20 litres of oil £105.50.

Brakes are half worn front and rear and are still the original ones.

Will need a pair of tyres before the winter though.

Front's only lasting for about 27000 miles. :)

Battery test showed the battery as good as new.

Nothing else needed doing.

It had it's 3rd MOT last month and again a pass with no advisories.

Both service and inspection warning messages reset.

Updated the electronic service record again.

Fuel consumption for the last two tanks before the service ( brim to brim calculations ) were 59 and 62 MPG in a petrol. :o

Still going well and still like the car.

Thanks AG Falco

What ob2 scanner do you use/recommend to scan the car for any errors after fixing the car?

I have a small / cheap EML 27 Bluetooth OBD2 that connects to my mobile, and have access to a Hella Gutmann diagnostic Mega Macs.

I have several cars that are from different makes so these don't come with recommendations if you only have a Skoda.

Ok, done me usual pre winter check.

Fitted new front tyres at 58k miles, they were fitted at 27k miles, with rear tyres down to 5 mm. Tyres rotated.

Front brake pads at 8 mm and rear pads at 7mm, with all brakes stripped, cleaned and regreased.

All disk faces are clean, flat and have no rust spots/patches high points. All are original brake parts.

A small rusty lip has started. Photos are before the strip down.

First photo is front and second is rear.

Fourth MOT and Seventh Fixed Service done today at 64K miles.

Had the MOT booked today for 9.15 but I dropped it off about an hour early.

This time ( see my Skoda Citigo post ) they rang me a 9.18 to say all done.

Clean MOT again, but with the car warning me a service is due within 500 miles I did that next.

This is a small Oil and ( Bosch ) Filter change and inspection service.

Same filter as the Citigo uses.

Used 4 more Litres of the ( 20 litre container. ) oil I have.

Still got enough oil to do the Panda which is due in August.

Brakes not much different from the post above.

Battery still good and nothing else untoward found.

Scanned the car for faults ( None ) and reset both the service and inspection warnings using OBD11.

Updated Erwin with the service history.

Cost was:- Tax £20.00, MOT £35.00, oil filter £6.00 and Insurance gone down to less than £200.00 per annum.

But fuel costs:-  this week to fill £67.00, six months ago £57.00 and a year ago it was only £50.00. 😲

Next service is big with oil, cabin filters and spark plugs due, and I will do the air filter as well.

Car still good with nothing gone wrong and still enjoy it. 😀

Thanks, AG Falco

Makes an interesting read Falco, thanks for that.
Question… when you buy new spark plugs, is the gap set correctly or do they need adjustment?
I bought 2 sets of Bosch plugs for our two CitiGo cars, but cannot get the coil pack off them never mind pulling up straight.

Yes so far.

Unclip the electrical connector block to the back right of each coil pack.

Undo the 10 mm bolt to the front right of each coil pack.

Then gently pull up the coil pack.

See here:-

They can get stuck.

There are tricks if that is the case.

Spark plugs come pre-gapped so when you have the correct new plugs for the car you take then out the box, remove the plastic or cardboard sleeve protecting the plug end. You inspect the gap, you measure the gap and fit the plugs without knocking / dropping them.  Reason being. Someone  else might of had those new plugs, looked at them decided they were wrong and hand we d then back.   Assuming a pre-set gap is correct is a common error even professionals make because they were trained by someone wow also did that.
