Disc and pad upgrade

Featured Replies

So I'm about ready for discs and pads on the front but was thinking about upgrading them. Has anyone tried the brembo sport max or EBC grooved?

Any recommendations would be welcomed.

Car is a 2018 FL vrs tdi dsg.

Ive had yellow stuff pads and groved discs all round on  my mk2 plus yellow stuff pads and normal discs all round on my mk 3 pre face lifted with no problems.

Brembo xtra I have used in the past with great results. I am now using Zimmerman spirt discs with standard brembo pads. However the brembo hp 2000 pads are very good too

The new brakes are amazing! They far outperform the oem ones!

Just remember that you are comparing them to worn-out OEM brakes. Brand new OEM brakes provide a very marked improvement too.

I went with the BSD Blades with the yellowstuff pads

True, but I've had the car from pretty much new and I felt the pedal was too soft then.

If you had soft pedal that is more likely to have been some other problem. Systems can let moisture in even when new untill seals bed in or if the car has been standing.

Some people confuse sharp grabby brakes with good brakes. Those things are not the same. I have proved that on a brake roller often enough. A brake should be progressive so you can choose the braking rate easily.

Spectacular though it may be, a brake that puts you through the window at the slightest press is not well set up.

As you can tell I'm not convinced by some of this stuff. but at the end of the day, if you like them and they stop, that is what counts. 👍
