Superb MK3 Version 3.0 Initial Impressions

Featured Replies

So,

As I was in a dealership having my L&K serviced I took the opportunity to look at the new L&K that was parked on the forecourt

Impressions ?

  1. I am not sure the new front bumper adds any more than the original design, It's more rounded granted but it's lost its angular/agressive look
  2. The new Radiator and Lights are barely noticeable
  3. The rear Skoda Lettering in place of the badge  and the Chrome strip across the boot. Not too sure, this example has 350 miles on the clock and both had the dreaded white spots on them
  4. I have a 65 plate L&K and have not sat in any newer models, who thought that Piano Black plastic for the heating control assembly was a good idea ?, not a massive fan as it just looks grubby, prefer the matt finish of the gen 1 Mk3
  5. They have changed the interior tail gate lights to bright LEDs
  6. They have added Door Logo Lights which look cool
  7. Apart from the chrome round the pull handles literally nothing has changed with the interior. same materials, the piano black inserts on the dash are a slightly different shape and look a bit more elegant, this I approve of, there might also be more subtle differences I didn't noticed on first acquaintance
  8. Blind Spot Monitoring is now on the side of the mirror casing nearest the window, no more 'Symbols in the mirror itself, lifted straight of Audi for that one
  9. Virtual cockpit, Awesome , why wouldn't you
  10. Seats, exactly the same bar some white stitching, which is nice
  11. Boot seems to have better quality carpeting than my 65 Plate
  12. Still no seat backrest release from the boot as standard, come on Skoda, it's 2019. Stop charging us £90 for the privilege
  13. 19Inch Vega wheels are hideous , avoid at all costs
  14. Black Magic Pearl paint , hmmmz a disaster waiting to happen. Id seriously consider having a ClearBra put on the car from new, even the 350 mile defo had holograms down the side, a nightmare...and I wouldn't pay best part of a £1000 for a headache, (if you care about such things)

All in All

Would I buy one ?

Absolutely

Is it worth  the £42k RRP for the one on the forecourt ?

Absolutely not

Not to mention the road tax is eye watering .... It is £30 a year to tax for my 65 Plate . This will be about £350 a year ...as it breaks the £40k barrier ...I looked at a Volvo V90 and the tax was £480...ouch

I'm really want the Scout to come to the UK .....but it's looking doubtful..

Me too but it is no at the moment

You can get rough road package on S and SE obviously which gives you the height but not the elbows 😁

For above reasons i waited for this revisions as i knew the price will drop for earlier versions and picked up a 66 reg and feels like steeling...

Mine is the cheapest "Active" version that could be ordered, chrome strip is missing and rear lights are basic (bulbs, not dynamic). Nearly 2 weeks in and I'm still not used to the lettering instead of the badge.

I's a cheap company car so i should not care less, but i have been thinking about knocking the letters off for a cleaner look. Not sure if it would look better though.

Agreed , I'm not overly convinced by the lettering . It's a nice touch but I think the Skodas choice of font could have been better....could have ushered in a new font design

I'd rather have the Black Roundel back , but it's a minor gripe .

It's also a shame that I think Skoda are held back as the Superb Estate with a light bar (ala A6) would have been awesome .nope we got chrome covered plastic which as mentioned will just look milky and spotty in next to no time ........Skoda also didn't get the active steering wheel for the ACC and Lane Assjst  the Passat got it , was obviously not bit available from the parts bin for them and will be introduced in 12-18months .....

I really want the Scout ....not that I want a higher riding car just I have had 3 Superbs now and it would just make it that bit different to what has gone before .

Having to shift around 2 large dogs my daughter and stuff I don't see me changing from a Superb Estate until the circumstances change..I can't fit a SUV in my garage , the only other available spaces are next to the garage (partner has her Tiguan there for the same reason , does not fit ) or on the roadside....god forbid thus, the Scout would be just that bit different...

SKODA UK #MakeItHappen

i still prefer my own version of spaced lettering.  its less sublte and in ur face than the SKODA lettering up high.

Hi,

As I went to my local dealer to buy ruber floor mate for this winter, I had the opportunity to see the New face lifted MK3.

Really nice thnough the changes are really subtil... As a counterpart, It does make our MK3 (non face lifted) look suddenly old... ;) 👍

I like the new front and rear lights. Still not keen on the S    K    O    D   A on the boot... But it's not a big deal, since it can be easly unbagded...

Additionnaly, these colours are really not common...

I like both of them... :)

The badging looks far better when blacked out 6140DDDE-A4A2-409D-BE39-7794357DA351.thumb.jpeg.6105d6c465df8527dfe8e3761dae1f39.jpeg

That looks well

I have rather boot unbadged... a kind of clean / stripped style... :)

No model (Superb), no engine type (TDI / TSI), no transmission (4x4), so... no Brand (Skoda) either. Only the logo... But that's very subjective... ;)

I still prefer the logo, but the black badges are tolerable unlike the chrome if you ask me.

Car looks great but the SKODA letters on the boot look terrible.  They would have to come off.
