Hi all hope it's okay me starting another thread. Turns out cleaning of some sensors at my local garage and new oil filter and the sparkplugs I fitted have made the engine Behave like normal. I've been considering extra mods per say. Nothing major per say but little things. I firstly started with interior trim and added the footrest plate below which I think works quite well. 

 

Secondly I'm looking at both whether to get the roof wrapped gloss black like one of the original options and the same with the wheels. 

 

I'm also considering upping the disks and pads to the vented ones they sell at euro car parts as I don't really want bigger disks on it. So whether people think it's a good idea. (Ideally looking for new thoughts on that already had a look at previous threads)

 

Finally I'm thinking of upping the standard air filter to a Pipercross one but not changing the airbox or anything just literally the Crossland filter I have. Wondering is it worth it for 60 quid.

Some people swear by swapping air filters to better versions, others say its a waste of time and money. If you are swapping the whole air box, it MIGHT be worth it but a replacement panel filter (Straight swap) may be slightly better and mean no more changing it but it will need periodical removal, cleaning, drying and oiling, meaning the car is off the road for the day. (I refer here to a K&N filter, never used Pipercross).

 

Others would say a clean, new genuine filter will be as good as them, as long as you change it often enough. Any blockage will reduce its performance so swap it at say, half the usual recommendation and buy from Euro or CP4L, with discount codes and it will probably be cheaper over the number of years you are likely to keep the car for. 

 

As for discs, they must fit the standard caliber so be sure they will. If they are a larger diameter or thicker, they won't work. (Smaller, too). 

 

Looking at your photo, a nice addition is an auto- lights switch. They usually have a nice little addition of chrome to the switch and with the sensor, will turn your light on automatically when its dark or if you go in to a tunnel, etc. They can also be used to light up the car for a minute, when you open or lock the doors with the remote. Handy at night.

 

There are also some nice little buffers you can get for the internal handles, that make them go slowly back to the roof when you let them go so no slamming of the handle! They fit in mins and are quite nice. I think they fit them in Audi's but Skoda get left out!

I was planning on listing these, along with some other cheap plastic caps/covers for the door latches/hinges, etc that are easy installs that tidy up basic fitments. Either here or on the Bay. Ill do it soon, I think.

The Pipercross has been fine for plenty owners here in the past with Twinchargers.  Obviously when dirty it needs cleaned.

Avoid the K&N.

Standard filters firred when required are just fine even with Stage 1 or a tuning box.

 

As to roof wrap, or even painted,  some actually were wrapped at Dealers when not painted from the factory, 

then with the wheels painted or powder coated just fill your boots.

Yes gloss black was what I was looking at my current look is silver wheels green roof and body except for the first two sets of pillars which are gloss black. But they look nice black based on pictures. Thanks for the pictures they all look great. Also forgot to ask if there was any other basic easy or relatively cost effective ideas or things people have done. I'm also keen on keeping the exterior looking stock or at least fairly stock is a original option look. To the point of I even bought a fabia badge for mine lol

I have painted a few Fabia roofs in black for people and mirrors / wheels.  Never done white as a colour change but i have done a new top coat on a white roof.

I have even removed wraps and painted, and changed white factory roofs to black.

There were a few cars a few years back that had thin paint on the roof and white showing through.

 

I have done solid black and metallic but i sprayed solid and put metal flake in the top colour and lacquer.

 

OT and has been covered here before, but maybe new members have never seen.

Right thanks very much. Would be interested in that list thanks. I'll look at the interior handled and I very much like the idea of the auto light switch. I've added a rear view mirror dash cam including a reversing camera wired to the reversing light which is also used for recording driving etc. I'm still in two minds about the performance filter tubes as they are around 60 quid and again with improves brake discs. 

Apologies for keep asking questions but while people are being so great at answering. Suggestions for tyres would also be cool I've been looking at some landsail ones that seem decent performance for the price. Again this is all random stuff but learning from others experiences is something I'm happy to make the effort to do. No point reinventing the wheel!

Uniroyals have been a fan favourite on here, medium price range, this is the guy who did my roof if you interested in the actual wrapping process, 

 

RTMG filter or VW racing if you want to spend the best part of £300.

 

My setup cost me £170 all in although filter was 2nd hand, I don't buy Into the myth that the forge filter isn't beneficial and hinders performance.

 

Cheap and subtle mods I have done are Tourag window switches and polo 7r mirror control, roughly a five per unit.

 

 

 

Mickmartin, did those window switches not give you red illumination, though? I have some the same but with Skoda green. Found the passenger side on ebay and the drivers twin switch came from China. I also have chrome on the light-switch, along with an extra chrome bezel around it so quite nice. Not got the chrome mirror adjuster though. Have toyed with the idea just not done it. I would get the chrome if I could just press it on but swapping out the switch looks a pain in the butt!

Yeah all my switches are Illuminated  Orange now, I prefer it to be honest.

 

 

The mirror switch was a door card off job, wasn’t the worst to be fair but I had to footer about a bit to get the switch working properly......up was down, down was left, left was up:)
