tow bar for octavia vrs

Featured Replies

I appreciate your positive comments!

To be fair, it is working hard especially around the Lake District. And I can hear it as well - the noise from the otherwise quiet "sports tuned" exhausts seems to reflect off the van to produce a constant irritating drone in the cabin.

Sensible head would say the diesel vRS (4x4 ideally) would be more suited to towing.

I've got the factory fitted one on my vRS others on the forum have had aftermarket ones fitted so I'm sure that someone will come along with a suggestion.

It is best to ensure that the quote includes the proper electronic interface, so that the car modules know that you are towing, you may be lucky and if yours was second hand that the previous owner ticked the Tow Hitch Preparation option.

A properly integrated tow bar will identify to the ABS and Stability Control Programming that you are towing.

Hey, do you have a picture of the detachable tow bar and electrics on your car?

Thanks

I fitted this Westfalia detachable yesterday to my Vrs.

Thanks, did it all get coded in?

Yeah, I did it all using OBDeleven.

Bought 13 pin electrics, using the install instructions provided by PF Jones and many top tips from fellow Briskodians it was fairly easy....although would have been easier had my hands been 2 sizes smaller.

Nice job. Out of interest what are you towing?

Nothing yet, however everytime I have wanted to tow I've had to borrow another car. Thought it was about time I got my own.

Plans are to venture onto a caravan at some point but not in a rush.

Had look at this and the price is attractive vs VCDS / taking it to a dealer.

I'm seriously considering fitting a tow bar to my Superb II ('61 plate, only done 56K so am keeping it for a while longer) and will need to do the coding to get the TPS/fog off etc.

Was it straightforward, or a PITA-but-doable kind of thing? It's not entirely clear what you can do without 'credits', for example.

Cheers

You will need Pro pack to enable long coding with OBDeleven. Use of the apps is not recommended as there have been instances of it messing up cars (plenty of posts on here).

As for the coding process, very simple using the instructions pinned on this page, not sure if your Superb will be the same though, so that is worth further investigation.

Good luck 👍

Thanks @DEZMONDE Looks like that's way to go. Even if I buy the Pro OBD11 the total cost for the tow bar job comes to about £470 - ca. £200 cheaper than paying for fitting.
