Egr cleaning guide

Featured Replies

Anyone cleaned their EGR out and want to post a few pics or mention tools needed etc.

I had a look around engine bay. It appears at rear middle / nearside of engine bay.

One of the hoses is labeled egr.

This is 2l diesel 110kw 150bhp engine. A few hoses connected either crimp compression clips or flat screwdriver jubilee compression clips and torx screws.

Thanks

Has anyone got any more imfo on cleaning egr on this engine ?

What you trying to do / achieve?  Have you tried running on some super diesel / putting in a cetane improver - to help clean out the EGR before you have go into the unit itself?

What codes are you getting?

Take Care with Cetane Boosters / Improvers.

'Just say no!'.

Nja--- almost.
I had to remove alot of stuff. The part is around nr1 in the drawing, and i had to remove alot of stuff around nr2. I did remove almost everything.
But then i stripped a bolt/screw on  the last part (just a hose or smth) and i had to put everything back again. I will try again once the weather gets a bit warmer.. Hittin ur knuckles in -10 is not funny :D
You got the same problem?

Well my problem was I was getting dpf pressure sensor which had been changed and underbost from turbo error , the garage that changed the sensor said the veins on the turbo was sticking and quoted me £1,400 for a reconditioned turbo and also for the dpf to be cleaned , so far I’ve brought wyns turbo cleaner and have sprayed this in to the turbo from the intake side of the turbo up from the maf , this I believe has so far fixed the issue as I’ve done 115 miles so far and hasn’t come back as of yet which is great as only cost me £13 to do that , then I’ve took the 02 sensor out and put dpf cleaning foam down that and did a forced regen using Carly which chucked out a lot of black foam and so far as said have only done 115 miles so far but touch wood it’s been good so far .

Does such an animal exist?

Things I would do with an EGR:

Prevent it from operating and ultimately very expensive failure by fitting an EGR emulator/simuator

Clean all the clag build up from EGR flow in the throttle body and inlet tract for greatly improved throttle response, driveability, power and economy.

Things I would not do with EGR:

Clean a non existant (in my opinion) filter or do anything to facilitate the passage of EGR gases, hence the fitting of the emulator/simulator.
