Octavia Vrs diesel 2010 headache

Featured Replies

Hi all, thank you for accepting me into your clan of knowledge and solutions.

I have a 2010 Octavia Vrs Estate, diesel.

When I first got her, it was all good, about 5 days in, she broke down on motorway.

Recurring problem of poor idling unless up to running temp, hiccuping when driving, multiple warning lights showing, I have to fight her to keep going as it wants to cut out, now off road.

Things I've done. Dpf cleaned out professionally, cleaned air mass sensor, new air filter, cleaned egr with spray, fuel additives. Last plug in check, after clearing, come back with 3 pages of faults!

I'm at a loss now and it's causing premature death, can anyone advise??

Thanks, Davey.

Maybe start by posting a full autoscan from VCDS or similar to show what fault codes are present?

Seriously chap, there were so many, covering everything to do with the car. Things that were unimportant to things I'd already had cleared previously. It was a joke, before the clear, I had 3 items on one page and after it failed and I'd driven back in, there was literally 3 pages worth. They'd never seen anything like it.

Check and clean all the earth points and battery fuse box for corrosion.

A bad earth can cause all sorts

Of electrical weirdness and problems. .

Yes, thanks mac11irl, I will have to do that again. Last time I couldn't find the wires from alternator to check for faults or for grounding, so I just checked battery etc, I think I'll have to raise up the car and have a good look underneath. Cheers mate

The errors (despite their number) might suggest a common cause or causes even if most can be ignored.

Aye, thats why i suggested earthing.

It can be a nothing causing chaos...
