Afternoon all

New fault this weekend on my 58 plate Superb where the boot lid is no longer clamping shut. This is the mechanism that normally pulls the boot lid down to secure it when its being shut.

Has anyone seen this problem? I thought it might be as a result of the common wiring loom fault in the twin door but the mechanism operates in the body of the car rather than in the door. I found this video on line where a guy was doing a fix on his car and he explains how the mechanism at around 3 mins. (Always learn something new everyday)

Has anyone come across this problem? is it a simple fix?

I had a similar issue earlier this year.  In my case the electrical closure (pull down) on the central latch was not working and the tailgate centeral latches would not unlock.

Eventually the tailgate did unlatch and would not re-latch (which was good).  I checked the wiring between the boot and tailgate, found several wires broken, soldered them together and all has been OK since.

Fingers crossed!

it turns out my problem was mechanical rather that electrical. The pin for the mechanism to operate around was missing (?). The garage bodged something and its back to working now.

Happy days!
