New Xenon Bulbs??

Featured Replies

Hiya.... as my car is a 2009 superb I think my xenon bulbs are on there way out..

what are people options on new bulbs?

looking around Osram seems to be the bulb of choice.

4300k or 5000k

If anybody has fitted be bulbs I would love to hear..

Also is it pretty easy to fit them?

thanks in advance

I bought some off ebay for £20 5000k. Seem ok. Easy to change.

But you get what you pay for I guess

Ok cool...I did think about getting a non own brand..looking at osram at the moment just not sure for 4300k or 5000k will hang fire to see if anybody else posts on here.

thanks for the reply so far.

I use osram xenarc nightbreaker unlimited.

I doubt 4300k or 5000k makes much difference. Just grab a decent brand and decide which marketing takes your fancy...

Cheers mate...and how do you find them?

I would stick to trusted brands for optimum lifespan...Philips or Osram

I swapped the OEM Osrams in my Mk3 with Osram Xenarc Cool Blue Intense (5500K) and they are a massive improvement in every regard.  They are pretty close to the LED DRL's in colour.  I find them to be better than the full LED lights I had in my previous car, a SEAT Leon FR.

I fitted a Pair of cheap ones from amazon for £16.14 delivered the next day yes for a pair thats £8.07 a bulb 😱 as one of my headlight went out all of a sudden so didn't know if it was bulb or ballast

It turned out ot was a corroded ballas5DV 009 000-00 also from Amazon for £29.99

Just to see how crap they were.

and guess what they are perfect much brighter and whiter light than than the original osrams

Been in about 8 thousand miles (will see how long they last)

I've had no issues with the nightbreaker unlimited xenons.

They are around 4500k I think so aren't massively white/blue.

I had 4 years of Night dealers Unlimited D1S in my estate. They did great but recently started showing signs of pinking at the top of the beam.

I've swapped them for yeaky 5500kv bulbs. They have a good reputation in the US. At £50 they're cheaper than the Xenarcs

I'm waiting for them to burn in to colour proper.

i guess the next upgrade would be the side light bulbs too

If it is not very late to make a choice you can consider Philips Vision. Pictures with my dash cam.

Nice!  Where they easy to fit?

Not a difficult operation to perform, however I went to a Skoda workshop to change them due to warranty requirements.

The light output from HID capsules will decay over time, so any new replacement is likely to be brighter than the one it replaces.

So would I ever get the look of modern cars xenons? As you can clearly see a lot more blue in the beam?

or are they 55w xenons as they are newer cars?

All D1s/D2s/D3s/D4s xenons are rated at 35W. The D5s/D6s xenons are 25w and produce less light output. Pretty sure stock colours are normally in the 4000-4500k range too.

Are you sure the cars you're comparing with are stock xenons? There are plenty of cars with LED systems which can appear very blue :)

Possibly yes 😂😂 although cant say for sure...

you see it’s either buy a decent brand or buy a cheaper brand...

I guess it’s either philips or osram
