No dash dimmer switch ?

Featured Replies

Do you guys have a dash dimmer switch? Our poverty spec just has the headlight raise/lower wheel not the dash light dimmer but judging from this picture it looks like the dash/headlight dual controls are standard spec on some trims?

If so, my next question would be has anyone retrofitted the dual control switch ? Is the wiring already there for it?

Cheers

Your profile says that you have a Superb and not a Yeti - but no matter as I can either move the post or you can alter your profile - just let me know.

Anyway, I would guess that it there's no dimmer fitted on the dash then that function should be in the infotainment menu.

The Yeti belongs to my partner👍

It's a pre-FL 1.2 S and doesn't have the Maxidot display. I can't see anywhere on the head unit to manually adjust the dimmer either... it just seems to be set to 'fairly bright'

I'm guessing it's because it's a base spec model.

I'd be surprised if the wiring was already there but it's easy enough to check. Remove the switch and count the wires, if it's about 3 then it's missing, if there are about 6, it's present :)

Base spec did not have the dimmer control.

Logic prevails, Langers. Cheers 👌

I also noticed the lack on my poverty spec Yeti.

The instrument illumination seems to be LED's and I wondered if they could be dimmed, I have the maxi-dot display so if higher spec cars have them I guess it may be possible.

To piggy back onto the thread, coming from Octavia Elegances some things I am happy to go without, others I would like to retrofit if possible, all things that I once sneered at but after becoming habituated they are quite good.

So are any of the following possible?

Auto dimming rear view mirror?

Auto windscreen wipers (not a huge issue)

Panel light dimming as above.

Locking fuel filler flap rather than locking fuel cap.

Retracting luggage cover rather than solid shelf.

I have already fitted the dashtop storage box, the upper sunglasses case, am about to try and cut n shut an Octavia front ashtray with lifting lid, I'm not a smoker but like to store trade cards, business cards etc there but not have them visible.

Have also fitted a cheapo jumbo box type armrest from Ali-Express, looks good but not a lot of capacity and a bit wobbly, do higher spec cars have a jumbo box like the Octavia?

Can you get under seat storage bins like the Octavia? Its one area where the Yeti is lacking by comparison, after replacing the dashboard I found a moulded in pocket behind the dash in the same position that the Octavia has one by the (RHD) drivers right knee, if a slot was carefully cut it could be used but only like an open pocket for coins etc.

I am currently modifying a vario boot floor from an Octavia, using 2 out of the 3 folding sections it will fit very well, I just have to change the height & length of the side supports and find some way of fixing them without drilling holes to go rusty.

Auto dimming rear view mirror is mostly wiring but if you want to use an original Skoda one, you'll need a new windscreen as the mount will be different.

Auto wipers requires a rain light sensor. Same as the above so it would make sense to do both at the same time. You can also add auto headlights with the RLS.

Pretty sure it'll be coding, 3 wires and a dimmer switch for light dimming. It's controlled by the BCM so assuming the lights are already connected to the correct pins on the BCM, it should be easy enough. The cluster brightness is controlled by CAN-bus messages from the BCM.

No idea about the fuel flap or luggage cover but I would imagine either are possible with enough time and parts ;)

YES, Requires Mirror, Windscreen and Loom

Auto windscreen wipers (not a huge issue)

Part of the Above but requires Rain Sensor

Panel light dimming as above.

I would guess a new switch and a few wires

Locking fuel filler flap rather than locking fuel cap.

You would need the actuator and wiring

All the above would also require coding

Retracting luggage cover rather than solid shelf.

Retractable parcel shelf has never been offered on a Yeti, and I have never seen an after market one either

Found one ;) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000107016662.html

No idea of the quality or if it actually fits/works but it certainly claims to be correct for a Yeti...

You have to sign-in to see that, plus don't forget that the Chinese Yeti has a longer wheelbase that the rest of the world and a slightly different boot.

Other car, but maybe the same headache:
I replaced and wired the switch cca a year ago
in my Octavia 2FL (MY2012), but it's not work. The lighting is still controlled by the light sensor in the instrument cluster - so it's automatic - and I couldn't find any relevant coding or adaptationThe same with the old 'dumb' and the new - later installed - MFA dashboards.

Ugh, I think I'm just going to leave it until someone handier than me pops up with a definitive guide. Appreciate the replies, folks ✌️
