Do,s anyone know how to check if a Karoq has a tow bar prep has my dealer said that my 2019 2.0 tdi was already equipped for towing .

Thanks.K4DOR

Welcome.

Hopefully someone will be along who knows the code on the build sticker.

Best ask that person at the Dealership where they confirmed it is equipped ready to tow.

Have them send you the confirmation in writing.

Assuming you have the car already?

If so then note down the VIN, either from the V5C or through the windscreen under the passenger side wiper and enter it here...

This will reveal all of the factory fitted PR codes, with descriptions, assigned to your Karoq.

That link doesn’t work.

Anyone have another link?

thanks

The link to the other thread works. The link to

 The site      https://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/skoda  works.

The result shows two messages

The functionality is temporarily limited - information is available only on previously tested cars !!!

Tom

My car is an Edition 2.0 Diesel.

I had many issues when trying to get a tow bar fitted, and exactly what tow bar prep includes.

It turns out that tow bar prep includes some wiring modifications as well as any required cooling modifications (I had the cooling mods carried out and subsequently discovered I did not need them - resulted in a £500 refund from dealer). My dealer and service manager did not know this.

How do you know if you have tow bar prep? A good start is to look at the radiator grill - if the vertical slot is about 4" tall (as opposed to about 1") then you have one of the cooling mods required (at least on my model). The second thing you can do is ring Skoda customer services with your VIN number and they will look up the build spec of your car and tell you exactly what it was built with.

Hope this helps.

From K4DOR , Thanks for your comments re towbar prep,I also had different answers to this, several towbar fitters and a few main dealers said this model didn’t need any prep, I have had a detachable tow bar fitted , the electrics have been remapped. without any prep doing . One dealer said this was a ploy  a few years ago to get people to have work done in order to have the  electric towbar fitted. Did they fit they fit a larger fan or another fan to aid the original on your car,   Thanks.
