Didn't realise I had it in my 245.  Tried it, epic epic wheelspin in 1st and some of second.  Was funny but not quick.  Maybe it needs to be dry, or have not bridgestones, or be 4wd...

Launch control on FWD is not that good in 95% of situations.

If Launch control actually fed in the power and didnt just dump it on the front wheels it would work fine. However it doesnt and you just get lots of wheelspin. Plus I think of the extra strain put on the clutch plates. I havent used mine yet and doubt I will tbh.

Is that actually launch control then? Or, just a rev limiter (like many higher performance cars have) to stop you dropping many ft/lbs of torque into the clutch at once? Sounds like the latter to me.

For launch control to be effective you need traction.

Exactly both 4WD but manual best 0-60mph 6.3 seconds whereas DSG car did 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds every time.

Launch Control is a bit of an anomaly, Launch with FWD and lack of traction means its either slow and/or wheel spin. Launch with AWD and its pretty dull. I launched my Golf R (310bhp AWD) a few times, yes its quick (4.6 sec) but its just dull, traction perfectly controlled, no excitement at all just very clever... I then compare it to launching my 5.0L (415bhp) Mustang RWD and its lots of traction problems and a bit more exciting, strangely they only had Launch Control on the Manual version, not the automatic (2017 Mustang).

Sadly Launch Control is not very useful in the real world, I wish the DSG boxes had a half way house that gave a quick get away but not the faff with selecting it and preparing the launch, so faster than when the box is in Sport but not the faff of launching.

Reviving this just to say that I found LC today on our 2020 Scout by chance.

The kiddo asked that we test the 0-100, so I stopped, pressed the brake hard, press the throttle and see the message about Launch Control!

Didn't hold long enough the first time to really see what it does, so of course we had to try it again.

There might be some kind of electronic nanny though, because on the 3rd attempt it didn't engage.

I’ll post one up when I get chance of my tvs mapped 272. 380bhp 560nm. The tvs stge2+ dsg map has variable launch. So can be done at 3-4-5k rpm
