Karoq Sportline 1.5 TSI DSG

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just sanity checking as I am about to move forward with a lease on a 1.5 sportline DSG (not 4x4).

I test drove an SE L spec 1.0 which I quite liked to be honest but need something in stock and right now sportline is the best deal for the sort of spec I want.

Do the 19" alloys make for a bumpy noisy ride? Are the sportline seats comfortable? (would have preferred leather I think but beggars can't be choosers, my current car is almost dead).

For those that own this model are you happy with your choice? Anything that should put me off?

Thanks!

I have 19" alloys on my Karoq, and in all honesty I would say that in no way do they give a bumpy, noisy ride. Having said that, a lot depends on the type of road surface and the make of tyre. On the rare occasions I've driven on the A180 in to Grimsby (solid concrete all the way) I don't think there's a wheel/tyre combination of any size that would not rattle your fillings loose. On that road there's a couple of short sections that have been replaced by tarmac, and then it's relatively silent.

My OEM 19" Bridgestone tyres used in Spring/Summer, create far more noise than my 19" Winter Nokian tyres on any road surface. The only time a problem occurs is if you hit a pot hole, then obviously you will have less of a thickness of sidewall rubber to cushion the blow. Fortunately most of the East Riding roads are ok, whereas the roads in and around Hull are abysmal.

Enjoy your Sportline and its 19" wheels.

I have driven the Sportline 2.0 4x4  with 19" wheels for a year, on good surfaces they're fine, any substandard surfaces will make for a bumpy ride. I have the standard fabric seats and they are extremely comfortable, so far I'm enjoying the car, and don't have any complaints to date. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

The 19" on the sportline are good the ride is very good it's not bumpy or hard it ride very well i'm very pleased with my sportline

The standard sport seat are very comfy like them a lot

i'm very happy with my sportline it's a enjoyable car to live with

19" wheels on my Karoq Sportline has 225 mm width and 45 profile height, and that is pretty standard rubber nowadays. So the ride doesn't feel bumpy or noisy. Mine came with Bridgestone tyres, which isn't the most quiet ones. So most of noise is from the tyre make/pattern/compound, not the actual size. The sound dampening is generally good in my TSI. In my opinion it is more quiet than my previous Oct3. The suspension is also very balanced, not too hard, but sporty enough for a mini-SUV.

The fabric sport seats in the Sportline are very comfortable, tugs me in perfectly and looks nice. I prefer fabrics over leather seats.

All-in-all, an enjoyable car. I love it!

Cheers all, good to hear, ordered.

We have also  just ordered a 1.5 DSG sportline on a lease deal. Car should be with us earlier March. Also hoping we made the right decision we are coming from a Nismo rs Juke but wanted something a little bigger.

I’ve just received my 2020 karoq 1.5 tsi dsg sportline. Fabulous car. Ride comfort is excellent - previous car karoq 1.6 tdi SEL - Sportline looks vastly better In my opinion and I prefer the sports cloth seats.

Out of curiosity what size is the tyre on the sportline? I see some with low mileage with 225 45 19 and some new and low mileage cars with 225 40 19

I've got 235/40R19 on our SEL and still managed 57.9mpg on tonight's commute (manual 1.5TSi).:hi:

That's good to know I have a 1.5 DSG sportline coming in October. Just strange to see so many variations of tyre size. Our Q3 has 255 40 19 and they are pretty hard

I was a bit concerned when my SEL 1.5 order showed 19in wheels.  I have 19in runflats on my current 520 touring (SE not M-Sport) and they are harsh! Especially around here (Herefordshire) where the roads are a crumbling mess.

So reassured by reading this thread. I am considering a set of 'winter fronts' (mine arrives end Nov) and assume the 19s will cost more than the 18s.

That’s useful to know, thanks. I’m sure I’ve done it a few times on other cars!

A set of 17inch steels then.

It is worth noting that the tyres are an odd size and not available  off shelf from many places. My top tip is to order the spare wheel.

I went to the Isle of Wight for a family holiday last year, car was a few weeks old & I had been there 1 hour when I got a puncture that was unrepairable.  Called several tyre places and no one had one in stock. As it was late Saturday  afternoon on a bank holiday weekend the earliest  I could get one was Tuesday! Fortunately  I had the spare otherwise  holiday would have been ruined.

That's why as far as I am concerned, a spare is essential, and not an optional extra! Any car that can't be fitted with one is of no interest to me as the tube of gunk just ruins the tyre and prevents its repair.

It's worth noting that as far as I can see the new Enyaq has nowhere in the boot to put a spare wheel 😞

Agree. The new Tiguan has one as standard  (I had one of those 2 years ago), disappointing  that you have to spec them for the Karoq and most other things although WLTP didn't  help with this.

I'm just about to part-ex the Karoq for a VRS and also had to get them to put the spare wheel kit in 🙄

One of the weird cars is the Toyota RAV4. If you try configuring it you find that adding a sunroof deletes the option to have a spare wheel! (Presumably due to the weight and CO2 levels?) My local dealer did say he could fit a spare wheel to it anyway, but I took it off my shortlist for other reasons anyway.

You must fit winter tyres to all 4 wheels for safety
