Auto headlight sensor

Featured Replies

Dear all does anyone know what the auto light sensor look like that turns the auto lights on or know were it is. Also i have a auto dim mirror on my mark 3 fabia which has a sensor behind mirror does that have anything to do with the auto headlights

Usually yes, the auto lights and auto wipers sensor is built into the mounting for the auto diming mirror. You should also have a light switch that has Auto between the Off and sidelight position.

There are 2 variants of Auto Lights in the Fabia range.

1. Rain / Light sensor attached to the rear view mirror mounting.  This has auto lights and auto wipers.

2. Light sensor attached to the front of the dashboard. This only has auto lights feature.

I just finished installing the dashboard light sensor with auto lights switch :) works brilliantly.

How easy was this to do and what parts did you need? Mine has a sensor somewhere because the dash lights (Speedo and rev counter) go brighter and dimmer depending on the light outside.

I found it ok to do the installation. Only pitta was access to BCM under the driverside as it was real nightmare to get access to the plugs :(

I had to remove the seat to gain easy access.

Parts wise you need

1 x Dash light sensor

1 x Wire harness for the sensor

1 x Light switch with Auto feature

1 x wire from switch to bcm

Did you check if you actually have a sensor in yours? If it's a dashboard sensor then it should in the centre facing forward.

There's a translucent small panel in the centre of the dash at the bottom near the windscreen. I can't tell if there is a sensor under it or not. Do all Fabias have this panel or just ones with the sensor? I couldn't figure out how it comes off to look under it and didn't want to break it by forcing it.

Yes all Fabias have them. So in my case it was blank cover. The one with the sensor is as you said translucent to let light in. Do you have Autolights switch?

I installed mine on weekend. However it works flawlessly but i feel the light sensitivity is not quite right. As I drove this morning with cloudy weather and the headlight was onn all the time. So i need to figure out the correct coding.

No I don't have the switch. Would it just be a case of getting the switch then?

I think i will recommend checking to make sure you have a sensor :) you can pry it out using a trim removal tool.

If you have a sensor then yes a switch should do the job.

It looks like I have the sensor? Maybe some wires missing from the switch?

Yes you do indeed have the sensor :)

You are missing wire from Pin 2 in the red plug. Also you need a new switch with Auto feature :)

Hey guys I've got a 2015 Monte Carlo, it's got the auto dimming for the gauge cluster and the head unit but there's no sensor on the top of the dash.

the instrument panel has its own backlight sensor. cannot be combined with automatic lights
