Yes mine don't have it. But I serviced it last week with Castrol edge 5w-30. Couldn't believe how re easy to service this car is. Took an hour tops

  • 5W-30 for the 280; I've always used Castrol Edge.  The dealers will likely use/recommend whatever is cheapest to buy in bulk at the time (brand wise).    https://applications.castrol.com/oil

  • Just stick with the sticker. I wouldn't bother putting the plate into any sites. Stick with what Skoda recommended, unless the car is heavily tuned.

  • FYI, there are reasons people choose different oils. Let's take 5W-30. Simply put, the 5W part is the viscosity of the oil when cold, and the 30 part is the viscosity of it when hot. 0W is thinner

My 2018 TSI 280 (CJXA) has a sticker for 504 00/507 00.

Recently had a service at a indy and they used 5w30 Castrol Edge LL

Supports the fact that 504/507 was 5w-30 and then changed to 0w30; probably for EA888Gen4 engines

Finally thought about it when the bonnet was open:

Same but different grade to Gen3.

I was told by several different VAG techs that I know, that it was 0w-30 from the gen3 GPF unit. It came out of the factory with this grade to comply with the WLTP standards and would then be changed back to 5w-30 at the first service.

in most cases 0w30 will be better instead 5w30,

due higher percentage of true synthetic additives

i can recommend 0w30 Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4210 LL3

DNFE 280ps 2023.

Interesting to show and compare stickers ... my DNFE '21 shows....

I am on the opinion that the change to 0W-30 was just to achieve better score in the emissions statistics, and not a real technical requirement ... while I keep compiling information, curiously I've noticed that the 504/507 norm is solely for "long service interval" to which all cars seem to be subjected to when sold (new), and no other lubricants except up to 0W-30 are within that range .... but the question is ... when you switch to "normal interval", it would make sense then to utilize the 502/505, which seems to be what VW was promoting before for EA888 engines including the earlier 280... oils like the Castrol Edge promoted as the standard oil are upto 5W-40 in 502/505 guise, but only 0W-30 in the 504/507 guise ....

Since I am on "short interval", will get an eye out for502/505 oils and see what is coming up ...

i'm skeptical about long intervals,

especially with my urban 22 kmh average speed

replacing on ~ 7.5 kKM

0w30 Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4210 LL3

replace interval calculator by avg speed:

motor hours * avg speed = replace interval (km)

300 * 20 = 6 000

300 * 50 = 15 000

300 * 80 = 24 000

urban driving is destroing oil more quickly than highway.

that is i do too, but on 1.5 tsi 150.

0w30, 505-507, Shell AV-L, average speed 30km/h, interval 8000kms or 8 months.

funny how the stickers are somewhat misaligned 😁

Mentioned elsewhere, now running Fuchs GT1 on 5W-40.

Hi ,

I am sure that the Skoda service manager at my garage tells me the first thing that comes into his mind.

Castrol told me it's 0 20 W grade required or 5 30 W for the 1.5 Tsi engine.
