Ride Height MK2 Superb Estate

Featured Replies

Sorry to have to ask since I've read it elsewhere in another thread but does anyone have the ride height dimensions for a 2012 MK2 Super Estate 2.0 Tdi 170 4x4?

Thanks in advance.

Here you go. Stationary height is the ride height measured from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the wheelarch.

Thanks a million for this. When fully loaded the back end always looks very low with the wheels disappearing into the arches. I want to check the ride height before going down the route of replacement suspension parts.   Very much appreciated. 😊

on level ground 3/4 tank of fuel no driver/passenger i have 650mm ground to top of inside wheel arch, from centre of wheel to wheel arch 360mm

now to find another superb to measure.

As above the measurement is 379.1 for rear axle so about 20mm of drop

Theres  your problem get new rear springs fitted

And with passengers or any load it is going to increase much more with worn springs

it will still get asked again and again....make the chart a 'sticky'

mines f*****.... 20mm below Sports   🙂

no fuel, passengers or load, no wonder it drags the towbar off the drive and onto and off the ferries when loaded for French trips  🙄

looks good on the drive though!

The MkII Octavia and Superb have always squatted more than most when the boot is loaded, more so the estates.

A common complaint / query.

so good greenline springs should be 10mm higher, good non-GL should be 30mm higher (han i have now..

the rears are just coils, the fronts are "coilover" struts?

You must dread Hednesford rd speed humps

If i were you and my car was new enough id look at rear airbags

My montego estate had self levelling rear shocks, 200ltrs of Belgian lager would drop it down and it would pump itself up within half a mile, HMRC never noticed

sadly my 2013 value and possible longevity in my tenure may preclude major spending on it

never hit any of them on Belt rd or through Heath Hayes centre.

Towbar is the issue and as the springs are way too low anyway i cant expect anything else.

as its a 10 plate new springs and shocks will suffice - probably less than 6k per year gets put on it so essential stuff only

if it was mine....non GL springs rear only, leave the fronts

using standard cheapo springs, Midland VW in Norton for the 2 i was quoted  £160 supplied and fitted i think?

  • 5 months later...

I've had this exact problem (2010 Superb Estate) and solved it yesterday by fitting two new OEM rear springs.

Sits and drives so much better now, and doesn't sag onto it's axle the moment I put anything in it.

  • 2 weeks later...

can i swap to std 1.6 rear springs?

Have a read here:

my 2013 greenline hatch catches on speed humps front N/S and rear O/S, and GROUNDS the sills on fairly avearge kerbs, i couldnt get over the garages swing out supports to get forward to his 4 poster, this isnt normal, yet nothing seems hanging down, its almost as if its got lowered springs

You've been told this every time you post on this topic: the Greenline is lowered compared to the standard models. It may also be sagging further than normal because that's a common issue for all Superb 2 models. The thread I linked to above explains everything you need to know to answer your question and decide on a solution. There is no magical solution that has been hidden from you.

just measured

360mm wheel centre to arch

looks like in 15mm LOWER than a std greenline

Your springs have sagged.  Mine was sitting 25mm below standard.  Replaced spring with OEM, now sitting exactly where it should be.

Did have a GL and fit new GL springs or did you fit std non-GL saloon springs?

Mine is standard chassis with weight range 6. Even on new springs and dampers it was sitting 19 mm below where it should be at the back (front is still fine on the original parts). I have a towbar fitted though plus two child seats in the back. I recently fitted a set of MAD auxiliary springs and it's spot on now.

Mines a standard and was sitting 25mm lower than spec with half a tank of fuel and two child seats in the back and a towbar.  Replaced with OEM Skoda springs for standard and problem solved.

That's just weird.  Were they OEM springs?

Aftermarket equivalent. It's not really that weird though. It's a common complaint about the Superb 2, especially on estates with lower weight range springs. It would be curious to see what weight range is fitted to yours. What paint marks are on the springs?
