I have an early 2017 pre facelift Octavia SE Sport with Amundensen MI 2, can the system read incoming text messages, I use a Galaxy S20e.

Thanks in anticipation.

Yes it can.

Presumably it has to be set up in the phone settings menu

Not a clue sorry, doesn’t work with iPhones, only Android so I can’t help there but the MIB2 in my brothers Passat works with his Galaxy S10+ for text message support. When you press the phone button there is an extra box there that isn’t present when I pair my iPhone with the car for text support.

Mmmmmm.  Strange I have a iPhone 8 + and I get a little envelope symbol on the phone section on the radio when I get a  text messages. I can read them myself or Voice will read them to me. I also have the ability to dictate a message using Voice

My 11 Pro Max won’t do it, neither did my old 8 Plus or the 7 Plus before that. This wasn’t possible with the MIB2 for a time, my old 2016 unit wouldn’t do it but some MIB’s can do it with the iPhone if you turn the Bluetooth notifications on. My brothers Passat doesn’t do it with my phone but my MIB2.5 might, I’ve  never checked as I always use CarPlay.
