Well I dare say they are breaking the (EU) law there. Or more likely the configurator is wrong, maybe to fool people into parting with £400

Ecall is compulsory on all new cars registered after April 2018 and should not expire.

  • How far through the set-up procedure did you get? I assume you've entered your VIN into the App, received the pin code and entered it into the infotainment system in the car?

  • As is mine, no signs of Connect being down or otherwise.

The main thing that I use it for on my S3 is to have the real time traffic updates on the 'car system' - which also allows the use of Maxidot for directions. The Connect setup (after the initial

It’s not new see this post Here. I read all the advertising blurb watch videos about Care Connect and fell into the same bear pit.  I liked the remote access element and thought it came with the Infotainment it doesn’t it has to be be ordered before the car goes into production I didn’t see that anywhere in the advertising.

eCall is only compulsory on cars type approved after April 2018.

The Karoq launched late in 2017, so Skoda are not obliged to offer their eCall system as standard.

Since April last year, all new car types sold in the EU come with eCall.

Compulsory for new car models

If you buy a new model of car, approved for manufacture after 31 March 2018, it must have the 112-based eCall system installed. This rule applies both to cars with no more than 8 seats and light commercial vehicles.  If you have a car which is already registered, you are not obliged to retrofit an eCall device but you can have it installed if your car meets the technical requirements.

My Superb was type approved in 2015 and has it. Skoda salemen told me 2018 that all new Skodas have it, and they don't lie, do they? 🤡

Ok but it’s not in an obvious place when shopping for a new car☹️

Skoda definitely aren't very good at communicating that is for sure!

The Kodiaq was type approved before April 2018 too, and the eCall feature is standard across all trims.

It seems Skoda are free to choose whether they include it for free or not on their models that were type approved before the legislation came into force, the Karoq being one of their models where they've decided to charge for it.

Agreed, Skoda seem to have multiple URL's for the same information and spread it around all over.

The fact they no longer produce the 'Pricing & Specifications' brochure, either hard copy or electronically frustrates me. All the technical information and itemised specification lists for each model were all listed in one place. This information is now spread out all over and is nearly impossible to find.

True, but this year's brochure/pricing document doesn't give the full details of what is included with each model, but just gives the highlights and what options you can add. Last year's gave a complete list of features provided!

Now the only way I have found to get this information is to build a car on the configurator and then print off the standard features.
