99.9p a litre

Featured Replies

At last, some good news during these times of madness.

Never thought I'd see the day again when petrol was under £1 a litre, but Costco in Edinburgh now selling at £99.9p

I can remember not that long ago when during a fuel supply issue there were calls to prosecute garages taking advantage by 'pumping' up prices to 99ppl - around 20ppl above normal prices.

Wasn't that 1999? Not £19,99 😁

Morrisons and Asda are 102.7p a litre and the local Sainsburys in Edinburgh 103.9p a litre.

Poor old BP garage just down the road is selling at 121.9p a litre - and there were still cars on their forecourt !  Obviously not driven by true Scots.

Ah but BP had a 3 for 2 on 'proper' Irn Bru 😁

121.9 is everything I've seen lately. 99.9p Bloody hell.

Give it three months it'll be up at 150.9, they'll cut production then hump everyone on the upswing.

Perhaps some will take this lull to think deply about things and go electric.

I wish my company would transfer the £1k a month I get for car allowance and fuel in to electric car lease and contribution to charging it home.

Would be much better for the planet.  Electricity at couple of pence per kWh and 0% BIK for lecky cars in a few days should mean a paradigm change but probably wont.

For 99.9 p a litre that would make the non-VAT tax base as 83.2p per litre

11th commandment, never pay retail.

Sadly in Worcester we do not have an Asda or Morrison petrol station so have to pay thru the nose at Sainsburys and Tescos !

Doesn't matter how deeply I think about it, my wallet isn't getting any heavier...

I was thinking laterally.  Might be fewer outlets open soon but electricity outlets are in the millions and cheaper pet mile than burning dinosaurs.

Those with @ home charging can at least have an occasional  wee joy ride while self isolating and not have to visit filling stations or chargers so without coming into contact with anyone as long as there are no incidents while out and about driving.

Not directly on topic but something that's not occurred to me before; how long can a pure electric vehicle stand without getting a recharge?

My car cost me nothing, but can be had for £1500. Fuel costs me about £70 a month. It'd be about 40 years before the £35,000-odd needed to buy an electric equivalent even started to pay off.

Running costs are never the problem - It's the lack of three dozen grand in ready cash that people always forget when telling me I should 'just go electric'.... and I get that a lot at work, usually from the overpaid management types. And no, I don't even have £260 spare per month for a Smart Fortwo EQ on PCP, either.

102.7p per litre at Asda in Barnstaple.
