new vehicle delivery

Featured Replies

Has anyone any opinion about new cars delivery that were at port of exit  two weeks ago. Dealerships are currently shut down but do you think there could be movement in about a month's time if restrictions are eased a bit ?

Use live chat on Skoda site if you have your order number they can update you as to it’s status

Thank you Trevor,  I havent got a number, all I know is that the car was sourced at port of exit  ( wherever that is ).

The Kamiq is built at Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic. From there it travels by train to Emden in Germany (port of exit) where it waits for an available ship to cross the North Sea to either the Port of Tyne (North), Grimsby or Sheerness (South) depending on where your delivering dealer is located.

How long a car sits in Emden can depend on various factors including shipping capacity and portside (dock compound) capacity.

If your Kamiq arrived at Emden I'd be surprised if it isn't already in the UK. Unfortunately from there it is unlikely to move for several weeks yet. Just bad timing I'm afraid.

Thanks Silver,  that's very interesting. Probably  will be no movement for some months yet.

There's more important matters to deal with just now but I appreciate that info.

Wonder what happens with cars destined for Ireland + N.Ireland.  Do ships arrive in England and then cars transported over land to the west coast and over the Irish Sea, or are they simply transported to Dublin direct from Emden.

I think most go overland on transporters, then on freight ferries.

I know VW group has car transporting ship running shuttles Setubel-Dublin. (Setubel is near Lisbon), there is a factory making Caddy, Alhambra etc near there, and cars from Med eg Seat from Barcelona are transshipped there.   There are also ships running to the previously mentioned Sheerness, Grimsby and Tyne from Setubel.

Don’t think any ship goes Emden-Dublin, as volume of new cars in Ireland is fairly low (only about 10,000 a month across all brands), so one ship carrying just Skoda would be 3-5 months supply

I know mine was in Emden on 15th March. Dealer advised me that it was at Grimsby on 30th March and would be delivered when the Coronavirus restrictions allow the showrooms to reopen

Thanks Bob, that's good info. Probably mine is a buddy in transit with yours.  All depends now on when  normal life returns, or whatever then is the new normal.

Swede here, just had my MC delivered after 6months of corona delays 🤣🤣

My dealer tells me it's on a ship from Germany. Sat on the dock for ages.

Hoping to pick it up next week.

The price of Delivery has shot up to nearly £700
