Superb II Alarm going off, temp fix?

Recommended Posts

Hello there folks,

Suffering at the moment from my alarm going off randomly much to the neighbours annoyance, it's an 08 Superb II 170 TDI , Had a look on here, and It looks like it probably boils down to a reserve power battery on the sounder, or even dampness has got into something somewhere.

My question to you is, if I was to pull the fuse I think it's the No.34 5a ( dashboard fusebox ), would that act as a temporary fix for the noise issue at least?

Many thanks all.

Ha!

Mine was doing this last week at 2am!

After realising i wasn't being burgled, went back to bed.

After the 3rd 'wake up' call, i checked the battery. Way down to between 6 and 7 volts.

Normally kept on trickle charger but had it on the other car and forgot to reconnect.

Hook him back up to the juice and all good!

As chimera says, scan if you can.

I had to turn the internal sensors off in my 508GT but it was just a button on the console.

Don't know of reserve battery.

Inside the alarm sounder, there is a small battery so if someone removed the main car battery, the alarm can still go off. It has a service life of around 6 years at which point you're suppose to replace the entire alarm sounder. Some have had success with taking the alarm sounder and replacing the battery.

If it is dead, you'll probably have a fault code like this on VCDS:

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
            002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00100010
                    Fault Priority: 4
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 29
                    Mileage: 291483 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2019.10.27
                    Time: 11:04:22
