Octavia III water in spare wheel well - wiper fault

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've noticed that the spare wheel well in my 2015 Octavia VRS hatchback is full of water. I was initially pretty baffled, as I checked all around the boot floor, and panels, and everything was bone dry. No obvious leaks. No wet patches. I've checked all the seals around the boot, and all look ok.

What I have also noticed is that my rear wiper washer has stopped working (wiper still works ok). I'm wondering if the wiper water pipe has come off somewhere, or has got damaged, and the water has been leaking into the wheel well for months every time I used the wiper (I only noticed it when I had a flat tyre the other week, and it's 6 months since I checked in there otherwise)

Does anyone have any experience of this, and does anyone have any pointers about where to start looking/how to get access to the rear wiper washer?

Thanks

Matt

Had the same problem with an A3 the hoses are push fit and can come off due to pressure if the nozzle is frozen.
just check pump etc before removing trim you should be able to hear if water is running.
one place to check is at the corners of the boot lid there’s some round bump stops that unscrew and if there’s water inside it will run out of the hole.

I've found same issue with mine. WIper is working properly but no screenwash coming out!

any ideas of where i look? ive checked front in engine bay and all pipes are in place and i have also topped up with screenwash...didnt need much!

Can you hear the pump when you operate the washer?

if so you then have to find out where it’s blocked or loose

look at the nozzle to see if it’s blocked

an air line can come in handy but you have to get the obstruction out or it will come back.

Hmm, same problem here. No output to the rear washer and rusty marks around the wiper spindle.

No water in the wheel well, nothing when I've unscrewed the bump stops, and the pump seems to be making a normal noise.

Trim off I suppose to take a look at what's what...

Yes I can hear the pump!

It’s a process of elimination to find the blockage.
start at the nozzle and if it’s not there go to the pump and remove the hose and check the pump is pushing water through.
im new to Mk III but the pump is behind the headlamp on Mk II

when the hose is off blow it through with an air line.
you should be able to clear it from one end or the other with compressed air.
it will be the tiniest piece of debris causing the problem.
