Radiator Fan not working after being jammed!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I trust someone can help with problem on a Fabia Mk3 1.4Tdi.

I replaced the air filter box and managed to get the drain pipe the wrong side of one of the radiator hoses.  As a consequence the air filter box drain pipe was making contact with the radiator fan and prevented it rotating.  I have now refitted the air filter box correctly and the fan is free to turn but now doesn't work!  From diagnostics I get the following fault code  "Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit  P048000"

I only drove the car a few miles and didn't get any warning lights.

Is it likely it is just a fuse and if so which number/location?  Or is it likely the fan motor is burnt out or the control unit damaged?

Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi,

I found a fuse layout for the car on the internet and discovered the fuse for the radiator fan was blown!  So hopefully panic over.  I will get one next week and ,fingers crossed, all will be well.

Let us know please and the fuse number/location.

Hi,

I am pleased to report that the fuse had blown and now that I have replaced it all is well.  It is a 40amp "slow blow" fuse.  the fuse is in the fuse box under the bonnet, top right hand corner.  The fuse is number 1 fuse which is positioned bottom right hand corner of the fuse box. See below. The fan now works OK.
