Bought my 2018 Fabia SEL Auto a few months back.  The dealer fitted a new  "Navigation SIM" when I picked it up so now I have Navigation which I can use and it works well.  Can someone explain to me how the navigation system works please ? Is it connected to my mobile phone ? If Yes,  then I guess it cannot work if the phone is low on battery or not actually in the car.

Also is it free of charge for ever ?

 Sorry about such simple questions but the handbook seems to be written in Kligon !!

Navogation SIM? On Fabia? What is model number and SW version of your infotainment unit?

Yes its a 2018 Fabia SEL TSI.

No idea of the model number of version of the Infotaintment unit. Not sure where to look for that information.   All I have is the packet the SIM came in.  See below.

You mean SD card not sim. 
 

the maps are loaded onto the sd card and inserted into the system, it has nothing to do with your mobile phone. It’s just storage. 

Must be this Lockdown  !!!  Meant SD

 

OK so every few years I just update the maps.

Bear in  mind you can't use another SD card loaded with your own music as there is only one slot.

 

I gave up on mine and just use Android Auto with Google maps,which is much better in  my opinion.
