battery drain

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone in or around sunderland, tyne and wear, have the vcds equipment to try locate battery drain fault on my 2010 octavia mk2 2.0 tdi. Local auto elec specialist was of no help and robbed me of £60 to tell me the car battery drain was about 10 milliamps but new yuasa battery fitted 1 year ago can lose half its charge in 4 days !

At the moment i have pulled the alarm fuse out (fuse number 35, 5 amp, in case the alarm siren is draning it while its parked up and locked. Local auto elec tested battery and alternator 5 days ago and said they were both ok.

Suggestions anyone please ?

Thank you so much for the links, removing alarm siren fuse (nmbr 35) inside the cabin seems to have stopped battery drain. Need to acquire replacement alarm siren unit (quoted £163.51 from dealers) for part only ! so will look at second hand units for now.

Hi, i bought a second hand unit off ebay but this has failed to work. Upon taking it to pieces the circuit board was burnt. So the assumption is i bought a duff unit. With the alarm fuse out, there is still no battery drain but obviously no alarm. Has anyone tried fitting a second hand alarm siren unit off a more recent model less than 6 years old which means the internal alarm siren nmh battery will still be good ?
