Paddy McGuinness in Lamborghini crash after filming in Lancashire and Yorkshire

Featured Replies

Top Gear's Paddy McGuinness has crashed after a Lamborghini Diablo he was driving sped off the road.

Pictures sent exclusively to LancsLive show the £250,000 supercar being hauled away on the back of a recovery vehicle after the incident happened between the Lancashire and Yorkshire border.

Police were called to the B6255 near Ribblehead and confirmed no other vehicles were involved.

An eyewitness told LancsLive how Paddy was doing several takes along the damp road when the crash happened.

With the rain we've had in the North West today I wouldn't want to be parked up in  Diablo. Let alone driving up and down a remote bumpy road!

Hopefully he's OK. Was he going for an eye test?

Thank goodness that he crashed the cheap one (and that he seems Ok of course)

Oil on the road he's claimed in some stories

Read that snf just thought about how many times boys racers and mates have all encountered "diesel on the road" just prior to a crash.

Nothing to do with going too fast for the conditions or the road, nooooosirreeeee.

I feel sorry for the owner. Lucky it wasn't the F40, the Diablo is worth a lot but the F40 is a looooot more (so is the XJ220).

Having watched numerous episodes of recent Top Gear, Paddy is no Chris Harris so probably ran out of talent. The joke is on him for a change.

Skidmarks after Lambo offroad attempt:

I do wonder if these supercars are suitable for road use.  In the newspapers there are regular articles regarding celebrities who have crashed such vehicles. On a public road there is no margin for error and planting around 800bhp or more on the tarmac has it risks as we are tediously shown. These cars should be licensed for the racetrack or private roads only.

Be interested to see what damage was done to the Lambo.  Skidmarks don't look all that much.

Gaz

It's claimed he was under the speed limit when it all went a bit wrong. I know just driving my rwd BMW briskly in the wet can be more than a handful (for me) so A Diablo with its grass roller rear tyres would be a bit of a 'concentration focusing' machine

The XJ220 pictured can hit very high speeds as I was once a passenger on the 2 mile Bruntingthorpe Runway at 190mph (305kph). It was as fast as a 1300cc Suzuki Hayabusa on the day which is not a slow motorcycle. Wonder if the car had a working onboard camera (Diablo).

Similar colour to Paddy's underpants.

'Within the road's limit of 60mph'.

Like they used to tell me, that is a maximum speed in ideal conditions and for you to crash there you were not driving to the conditions or not paying attention if there was no mechanical failure, so that looks to be 'Driving without due care and attention'. if not Dangerous Driving and if you had hit something or someone

it could have been dangerous driving.

Surely the cameras and drone have it recorded.. Then there were the eye witnesses.  Police officers.

Chap in Loughborough died last month on the A512 Ashby Road driving a BMW 5 Series after demolishing a lamp post, a front wall and 5 cars in someones drive on a 30mph limit road. Hard to believe he was only doing 30mph.

too many words

A friends head came off when he crashed his bike into a lamp post at a 30mph street corner 100 yards from my house.

Only reason we could think it happened was he met someone coming the other way on his side of the road.

Or he was careless that night.

Road layout and buildings totally changed in 43 years but it was where the white car is in the middle of pic and that was more of a bend back then.

The initial report suggested there were police 'on scene' for the recording but a later report stated a Yorkshire patrol came across the incident 'after the fact'

Biker died recently near Twycross Zoo when 3 mates were riding together and one of them struck a tractor towing a trailer.

Accidents happen, even professional drivers and riders can come a cropper at low speeds.

When Boris got out the car he was seemingly a bit shaken & confused and dithering and blabbering, so police and eye witness's said very much just his usual self.

Nice that armoured cars still have a crumple zone.

Other broadcasters hid the reg number for some odd reason.

It does the miles.

I hope the protestors that caused that accident were prosecuted.

Was this TV presenter driving a car not belonging to himself?

Will his name be added to the long list of "Walk away" celebs & racing drivers to have done the same thing at test days to their fans vehicles?

Rory Reid has to tap out as going 60 mph is just too much for him....

Backed off to 50 maybe.

There is just something about his delivery that turns me off. I can't stand the bloke. I think it's that he talks in such an authoritative manner, which is clearly beyond his ability and knowledge and his 'enjoyment' is so forced.

I believe that one supercar manufacturer gives you a professional driving course before you pick it up. They are lethal in the untrained hands as is repeatedly shown in the media. BMW M series are more dangerous than a Vauxhall Nova SRI

Looks like they didn't they bother to MOT AR11EYT in 2018 then?

Thanks AG Falco

.. and any car is lethal in the hands of an idiot (I've seen a lot of Nova's on traffic wars/police camera action etc)
