Rear Caliper - 2004 VRS

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have Fabia VRS 2004 and recent MOT test failed on “offside parking brake inoperative on one side”.

Car currently at local garage but from what I hear it’s most likely rear caliper. The part itself is £200 from ECP.

Does anyone know a stockist that I could get a part from. Or able to confirm the manufacture codes? There’s one on eBay with:

Manufacturer References (OEM Codes)

If it's parking brake stuck in the off position, you might get lucky if you apply some WD40 and some patience. It can just be the lever mechanism that the cable goes through on the caliper getting gunked up.

I sent mine off for a refurb with these guys http://biggred.co.uk/ they didn't take long and did a really nice job.

If Eurocarparts are coming up expensive, try their other site, carparts4less, or just your local motor factors.

That does look like the right part number if it comes to replacement, second item 1 here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2004-225/6/615-615061/

£200 sounds mighty expensive; are you sure there aren't any discount codes that can bring that down, a lot?

Thank you both :)

Found this link - https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/Skoda/Fabia/03-07/Fabia%201.9%20Diesel%20INC%20VRS/Rear%20-%20Brake%20Calipers%20and%20Wheel%20Cylinders/BCA2967N

Seems best price I can find :)

I just replaced both my rear calipers. One from Carparts4less the other from ECP. Both are the same, albeit for different sides.

ECP meant I could collect & the old unit was easily taken back to get the surcharge refunded.

Pretty sure the calipers worked out as about £50-£60 once I got the surcharges.

Looking today the prices do seem high even with their usual discount codes

I bought non-green ones though as they were much cheaper. Luckily I've sill got some of the smooth green hammerite.

I bought calipers from a local motor factors. All rear calipers are the same. the only difference with the vRS is coloured Green (red for 2007 SE), However companies charge nearly twice the price for vRS ones. I bought silver (non-vRS) calipers and this Green paint: https://www.paragonpaints.co.uk/Pantone-348C.html  plus etch primer.

I paid £50-60 for calipers, plus around £35 for paint and primer.  I painted all 4 calipers (and carriers) at least twice, over the years and still had over half a tin left!
