I recently bought a Skoda Octavia VRS combi 2014 and I am wondering how to update the system so I have smartlink functions. I know that it has something to do with MIB units and stuff but i am not that educated in this particular area. So please, can someone advise me on what should i do? I only want to have android auto. My Mib is version 1, the screen size is not from the smaller ones but its rather big. A friend of mine has almost the same skoda but 2016 (his screen is smaller and doesnt have a cd reader) but still has smartlink and i dont.

Only MIB2 and MIB2.5 units can have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay enabled.
