New Superb owner -Nav advice

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just purchased a lovely 62 plate Superb Mk 2  elegance estate. It is the 170ps 2ltr diesel with DSG and what a car. So impressed  with the interior quality, spec and sheer space for passengers and load.

I am new to the forum and apologise as it seems this is something much discussed previously but wanted an up to date opinion.

Love the Columbus nav system, even the novelty of being able to play DVD's.

It is showing

HW H64
SW  4024
Map version 7690.

In reality is it worth upgrading the mapping and or software and what would be the latest version that would work in this car.

Many thanks in advance...there seems to ve some very knowledable people within this forum.

Kind regards

Dave.

No real benefit in updating from 4024 software, but the maps could be updated to V17 (8557).

Thanks Rustynuts. You appear to the man in the know. Can I buy version 17 on a dvd?

Youll probably find an eBay seller who will furnish the goods. Same maps as for the VW RNS510.

I've just installed the v17 maps I bought from an eBay seller named
vagtech.diagnostics (I think I can name the seller without linking, if not, then apologies in advance)

You can download it from several internet sites. GPS Power and quite a few others. Ebay sellers probably got theirs from those sites.

I install mine now with the maps tools program via SD card. This is easier than via DVDs.

Visited Graham at"vagtech.diagnostics" in Birmingham today after speaking to him on the phone. He is a top man who really knows his stuff. Completed a full nav upgrade to V17 and a few nice tweaks to my menus via VCDS.

Thoroughly recommend his services.👍

GPS Power

I have been able to use that site in the past but could not log in this year.

I have now discovered why - this is their terms

So using that site to get map updates will require new username and email address each time.

What are the other sites that you mention?

If you google rns510 maps download you will get quite a few hits.

I have used VW sites Mk5golfgti, my-gti.com.

The digital eliteboard has got most maps and the maps tools.

With GPS power just create a new profile if your last one was binned. They are probably useful for sat navs on other makes too.
