That's odd Skodev, I only placed my order on the 13tb Feb and I've already been given a provisional build week for the middle of April?

Yeah I saw that. You’ve done well. I’m going to chase the dealer early next week and see if there’s any update. I’m hoping they’ve just been a bit busy and not checked the system. Last update I got was 22nd February.

For goodness sake! It's as if Skoda decided to care less and less about the RHD conversions of each generation - they went from a near perfect conversion on the MKII to leaving the handbrake and the b

Well, I sent the below message to my dealer today after having the car two weeks. It will be interesting to see what can be done. But overall, the benefits do not currently outweigh the cons. I much prefer my other car which is a 66 plate Superb MK3 l&k.

"Today, the screen was stuck on the 'Please be patient...' message for an entire journey for 40 minutes. My wife even pulled over, got out of the car and turned it off, and then went in again to no avail. During this time, nothing could be used such as air conditioning, etc as it wouldn't let you select anything on the screen. And as this is a car where the majority of functions are controlled via the screen, it is not acceptable and very unsafe if driving. I will try and attach a video/picture of this issue.

So, list of issues/glitches/bugs - please note, some are intermittent which makes them more infuriating:

When selecting your user account, you get the 'Please be patient' message which doesn't disappear and stops you from using the touch screen at all. This is probably the worst intermittent fault.

The car (when you successfully select your user account) doesn't actually remember your car settings. So when I get into the car, select my user, it then doesn't actually load my settings correctly which I have previously selected. Such as lane assist heads up display settings etc. So, I need to spend 5 minutes before I drive away picking my settings again. This is poor.

Sometimes the car doesn't remember the seat/mirror positions correctly and they need to be readjusted.

Sometimes it just fails to open your user account. You will select it, but it will fail to load continuously, meaning all settings need to be readjusted so you can get on with your journey.

The motion gestures sometimes work/ sometimes don't. THis doesn't overly bother me, but it is just yet another thing that there are issues with.

The voice assistant is a PITA. I think her name is laura? But it randomly turns itself on during journeys despite me never having uttered its name command."

It's the latest one available here I believe. Off the top of my head it is 1668

TheUltraRunner user reports that he have 1788.. maybe firstly check for update + reset everything before and after update.. might help it (I hope)..

Yea, I have heard of the 1788, but my car shows no updates available and I have factory reset it to now avail. The biggest and most annoying issue for me is how (when logging into your user account when getting in the car and putting your pin in) that it can take ages to actually load. On a good day, it takes 5 minutes. On a bad day it just doesn't load, continually shows the spinning circle telling me to be patient and prevents me from doing anything o. The infotainment unit. That particular bug is unacceptable for me.

I your place I would go to service and demand to resolve problem.. may be HW related..

Yea I have. I am waiting for the service team to call and give me a date to leave the car in.

According to my current information devices ending with letters A, B and C have SW version 16xx where being 1688 the latest one. And devices from D onward having SW version 17xx where being 1788 the latest one.

@neonplanet40 I'm pretty sure you can update your car at least up to 1688 version.

I'll check again tomorrow but I have a feeling that I have 1688 already. I'll report back though with a full image.

Ohh ok. Sorry, I thought I saw 1668 in one of your posts.

You did see, 1668. I mistyped, sorry. But I will double check tomorrow. I wonder if the rest of us will get the 1788 update. It may fix the issues.

I collected my Mk 4 at the end of September 2020. I have to say, despite limited mileage due to the pandemic, that I am pleased with the car.

I only have two glitches; the first is the sat nav being in km - that is supposedly being worked on. The other is the automatic main beam; it is not clear whether my model, the SE L FIrst Edition, should have this or not. That said it is not a deal breaker just to flick the switch.

It doesn't! I thought the same. I asked the dealer and they said that our model doesn't have it. I'm sure in the blurb it said it did!

Is it not the matrix lights upgrade that have it?

Yes, it must be. Mine are standard light and definately don't, so I'm told. They certainly do not dip when another car comes the other way!

Strangely when I used my car yesterday I went into shop. It gave me an option to purchase High Beam Control! The cost was a one off £179.99. So I clicked on it to purchase and then received an email with instructions to make a bank transfer to an account in Luxembourg. I will call Skoda UK on Monday to query this and try to make a card payment.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

To add to my problems, an airbag error has popped up today.

Well I've just come off an hr long test drive of a Mark 4 VRs petrol DSG . Current car is the same but Mark 3.  First impressions are that very nice inside, feels bigger ( maybe because the gearstick is no longer there and alcantara dashboard sweeps away, and felt more solid.  Also felt noticeably faster.  However it did feel noticeably bumpier on our rubbish roads, and was very noisy.   I guess the ride is what you pay for basically having a sporty car as a family car, but the noise did seem very intrusive.  Wind noise and tyre rumble .  I also have a 20 year old Volvo S60 and it is so much quieter. Going to be testing a Superb as well to get a feel for overall comfort levels, and also size ( as will primarily be used for the school run) .  Feels like I could get all the ooomph I need from a Superb Sportline ( ideally petrol 4x4, but even the two wheel drive version), and far more comfort . I've also been looking at Volvo V90 and V60, but the essential boot space is so much better on both the Skodas .  Tricky tricky

Try one with the DCC. I love it. Comfort mode is superb. At least by my opinion.

yeah, I'd half thought that if I went for it I would need to get the DCC . Road noise i guess would be unchanged but much comfier, which at the end of the day is what is needed 90% of the time with kids in the back

Hi, had my vrs for a week now and the drive mode setting going back to normal is a complete pain in the ... Lane assist & start/stop also need switched off everytime but that's not as bad as the mode.

My big issue is that the audio volume is constantly dipping down. At first I thought it was eco tips causing it but that's off now, also thought it was notifications from my phone but even without my phone it still does it.

Any idea what could be causing this ? 🤔

Could be you have speed-dependent volume setting set to on?

I think there’s also a setting for “max. radio volume when start the car” or something like that.
