I have a secondhand Scout which I bought privately about 2 years ago.  Quite by chance a couple of days ago I took the spare wheel out of the boot and checked it out and found to my horror that it is a completely different size to my running wheels, I am shore this is not right.

The running wheels are 225x50x17 the spare was 205x55x16 giving just over an inch difference in size, this cannot be correct can it?

I have sourced an alloy wheel of the same size to my running wheels from a breakers.

So now I have a spare steel wheel with tyre for sale.

A 205/60 would have given you the nearest size on a 16" rim. Does a 225 tyre fit in the spare wheel well OK?

There  is quite a lot of spare space in the well and cannot see a problem, when the new wheel arrives I will let you know.

Thanks for the comment

Thanks for the reply but I have managed to source a 17in alloy wheel for a very reasonable price ie £35 delivered in fairly good condition.
