Front shocks

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new on here,I own a 2004 octavia vrs,and recently went to change my shocks as they are shot.I ordered new ones from euro carparts, which on the app when I put my reg in said would fit.but when they arrived noticed there was no attachment for my drop links.Searching othersites I noticed non of the ones saying fit my car have the hole/attachment for my drop links.Am i missing something here? Later models have the drop link attachment.Do i need a separate coupling that attaches to my shock to allow me to fit my drop links? Very confused and frustrated?

Not sure if the diagrams are truly representative, but it looks like you need the item 22A part number as opposed to one of the item 22s?

https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2004-252/4/411-411000/

Check the build data sticker on the boot floor looking for that G85 PR-code and/or look for a part number sticker on the current shocks; does it match 1J0 413 031CM?

If so, ECP, or a better motor factor should be able to match aftermarket/pattern parts (if available) to that number.

Yes thanks.

Picture may not be accurate? Would be worth contacting them with VIN to confirm suitability.

There are some aftermarket ones (e.g. the Kavo ones) on this page that look to show the fitment you need: https://www.sparepartstore24.co.uk/oen-1j0413031cm

Nearly as much as the economy genuine ones on the previous link though.

Ok will give them a ring, thanks for all your help,Also I have sourced some with the part number from the diagram you sent, they say it fits my car and are for sports suspension, the only difference is the code has AM on the end not CM does this matter?

  • Sponsor

Don't know, sorry. The site I usually consult for supersedence info suggests there isn't a pathway from the -AM to the -CM part:

That one was superseded by a part number starting 1JE, for only Audi and VW, and only in Brazil, according to this page: https://oemwolf.com/oem-parts/1j0413031am.html#replacements

At a quick glance, images of the AM suffix part on google don't show the bracket/hole you're after?

I have sent them a message asking about the drop link hole, hopefully they can shed some light on this matter. Will get back to you.Why do companys say this fits your vehicle when clearly they don't.

@Carlston; can you help this fella find a value-for-money, correct fitment front shock for his car? Seems like a tricky one and I know you have skills in this area.

ОЕМ NUMBER

Bilstein B4 Front Shock Absorbers 22-145550

OEM reference number(s) comparable with the original spare part number

Thankyou so much for your help, really appreciate it and finally I feel like I'm getting somewhere. The bilstein shocks 22-145550 are the ones I need, thanks to you.i have sourced them at Gsf at £63 each.I just got confused because when I put my reg in any online site it was showing me different ones to mine.i guess they are after market ones.im not that clued up in this field, unless the owner of my car before me has upgraded them,I ain't to sure how this has happened.but thanks to yourself I have found the right ones at a reasonable price. So my gratitude to you Wino.
